Thou Shalt Fear Badgers

Progress on Jazzy's shrine.

I may no longer feel your soft fur or hear the funny little trilling noises you made, but I know you're still next to me. I know you're still twirling around my ankles and inconveniently laying between my knees. I know you're still crying and meowing for breakfast and dinner. I know you're still giving the dog the most annoyed glare when she plays with her duck toy. I know you're still leaving half eaten mice on the sidewalk to gross out mom. I know you're still making biscuits like a madman on your favorite blankets and curled up napping in your cabin. I know you're still hanging out in the far corner of mom and dad's room and behind the electric stove downstairs. I know you're still loafing on dad's chair at the kitchen table and stealing Izzy's bed.

Your spirit is with me always and someday we'll be able to explore the woods again together, I promise. I promise to continue your legacy until then and perhaps give another stray kitty a good home and good life, just like the one you had.

My sweet wonderful Jazzy..

We spent so many years exploring and getting into trouble together. You were my right hand man. My best bud. We terrorized the local mouse and squirrel populations across two counties and smiled all the way. You held out when you moved homes and when I moved away. I'll forever be proud of you, my sweet boy. You were loved by so many and you will continue to be loved.

But for now I say goodbye as I lay your body to rest. You were so strong for your mama and I can't wait to see you again.
