lily mae got two cherub tattoos on her left shoulder blade a year before she was killed. she got cherubs specifically because they are believed to be guardians and protectors. the tattoos were her choice, but emerson influenced her to actually go through with getting them.

lily mae is terrified of the dark. she will play it down when others are around, but if you leave her alone in the dark she will start to cry and panic.

lily mae always wore a gold cross necklace; it was a gift from her father for her 16th birthday. this was the only piece of evidence found where she was last seen walking, and the only DNA recovered on came back to her.

it was late afternoon in eden, & the humid summer air clung to everything with a gentle persistence. lily mae sat on her old tyre swing, its rubber surface faded from years of relentless summers, & cradled a worn notebook on her lap. the swing creaked softly with each subtle movement — a familiar, comforting sound that carried memories of childhood & simpler times.

today, though, her mind was far from those carefree days. the cool spring breeze played with her hair, making it swirl around her face, but she hardly noticed. her attention was focused solely on the notebook in her lap, the pages filled with a mixture of scribbles, notes, observations, & finally questions.

dark brown eyes lifted from the pages as she looked over @priestbit, giving him a warm grin. “ do you wanna start or should i? i’ve got a lot written down & i have no idea if half of it makes a gosh-darn lick of sense. ” she softly laughed as her tanned cheeks burned with a faint shade of pink running across them.

“ then again, what emerson says in french doesn’t make any sense to me. although, i think i’ve been able to understand some of what he’s saying & the rest is just poetry. ” she sighed softly.

without missing a beat, lily mae quickly locked arms with the other girl as she continued to stroll along the main street’s sidewalk. “ why hey there! long time no see! gosh, it has been too long! ” she spoke fast, her tone higher pitched as she attempted to make it sound like she had just met up with an old friend.

she smiled & waved to others walking by, keeping face as the polite and well-mannered preacher’s daughter. through her teeth, she spoke softly: “ you got something going on that’s causing you trouble? ” momentarily, she glanced over her right shoulder, offering another wave to a group of older women before she looked back to the other girl. her eyebrows furrowed as she attempted to read her for any signs as to what was going on. maybe it was nothing, but her gut was telling her it was something.

paranoia was not in lily mae’s nature, but the fear of being followed always nibbled at her. she had felt it before, the prickle of her hair against her neck & the chill brought on by a wind that was never there. even now, as she walked, she could feel a chill intermixed with the warm summer air. maybe she was imagining things.
