GOOD TALK.

❝ nate – ! ❞ this is the third time she’s been hit this day alone – that’s not even taking into account the four straight days that she has endured this. at first it was kind of funny, but now? now he’s just asking for war. ❝ that is it! ❞ she hops over the back of the couch and now it’s a hunt – except instead of using a nerf gun of her own she’s taken on a more natural approach of once she reaches him, she tackles him to the ground.

❝ —— well, they’ve gotta sleep at some point, right ? besides, being still is the LEAST they could do for you if this is how they are on a regular basis. ❞ he honestly didn’t know how she managed to sleep with all that moving about; more props to her, he supposed – it was yet another thing she could do that would never cease to amaze him about her. leaning toward her, he presses a chaste kiss to her temple; slinging an arm around her shoulders. ❝ i’m sure if something was ever wrong, you’d be the first to know, alright ? they’re okay. ❞

as if she really needed to ask such a silly question. allowing for her to pull his hand towards her, he can’t help the lopsided smile that spreads along pallid brims as his hand is pressed firmly to her stomach; a soft laugh fumbling out betwixt parted lips. ❝ —— sure seems that way, right ? i give major props to you for putting up with that, by the way. because all that moving about would drive me crazy. ❞

it’s a quiet little moment in their appropriately quiet little life now. not everything is all figured out – it never is – but the big picture seems much more obtainable than it used to. right now, things make sense, and she just likes how that feels. she can follow leads and write stories all she wants, but when the time calls to set the pen aside and just enjoy her life she can, and she’s even more happy to say she can with him. and in the coming months, she’ll be changing that ‘him’ to ‘them.’

the added weight in her lap is hardly unwelcome, and she places her hand against his scalp before slowly letting her fingers slide through the short brown strands. peach lips are pulled into a sweet smile, and as a certain thought pops into her head, she can’t stop the small giggle that soon follows.
