If porn videos started with a short 15 second, un-skippable ad about how safe sex works, it would probably do more than the current sex education we have in our schools.
I'm not really a huge fan of the whole 'Millennial' label and topic as a whole, discussing it makes me uncomfortable and generally cringe as it's usually discussed in a degrading and somewhat insulting way towards my generation by people who (yes this is going to sound braty) don't understand. I am hugely an painfully aware though that there is a large difference between my generation and generations that have come before, and, while I am loath to come across like i'm trying to shift blame, it is my personal belief that this large difference is due to the rapid shift in technology and culture in the past two decades. A shift faster than any that have come before. This video, unlike others I have seen before which have often been insulting or incredibly misinformed, actually makes some amazing points. It breaks the issue down into four points: parenting, impatience, technology and environment. Personally I see the last two as the main issue and the cause of the first two. I don't see this generational difference as simply being my generations preconceived sense of entitlement and impatience and lack of emotion for others. (Which I am well aware exists) Rather I see this sense of entitlement, impatience and lack of emotion for others being caused by the cultural and technological shift that has occurred. This is where the parenting comes in and, again, in my opinion, mixes with cultural changes, through, mainly, no fault of parents, children are being brought up in more and more of a, what I can only describe as, bubblewrap environment. Be this the upsurge of health and safety, the move to ensure every child feels unique and special or countless other ideas that seem to appeared in the past couple of decades. These factors have led us to come out of education with such a high self esteem because in a large number of cases, people aren't honest with us. They build us up and tell us we're great and we'll be successful, rather than give us the hard truths of life. And then we hit the real world, we look for a job and BAM our self-esteem goes through the floor. Simon Sinek in this video talks about how our generation has seen a large rise in suicides and depression. Which it's my belief is a direct symptom of this. He continues to do a great job of explaining the idea of people being addicted to social media. This if anything is the largest thing that the past two decades has done and where I believe the problem, because yes it is a problem, lies. We get this low self-esteem and where do we go for consolence, previous generations it would have been alcohol, friends & family or cigarettes and, to some extent, this still occurs. But, our generation has a new tool. We have instant gratification at our fingertips (No not masturbation, that's been around for ages) we have our smart phones. Social media in our pocket. Retweets, follows, likes, all of these things that sends that little rush of dopamine to the brain and makes us feel just a little but better.....and also gets us addicted. It's this instant access to dopamine that I believe has caused the biggest difference between generations. Some say it's made us lazy, I would partially agree. Amazon, ebay, mobile apps for food and taxis. We can get anything we want delivered to our house by the next day, sometimes sooner, why should we wait for anything anymore? Another popular argument (the historian in me wants to find sources now) is that this rise in technology has made us 'closer but more distant' and THIS, this is the biggest thing I agree with. We can be talking to someone on the other side of the earth while our friends or family are sat on the opposite side of the table from us trying to have a conversation with us. And it might just take a minute to send a message but for those friends or family, it takes us away from them,it makes us no longer part of the conversation and to put it bluntly, its just rude. I say us because I know fully well this is an issue I have and it would be incredibly vain of me to pretend like I don't do this as well. I spent the Christmas holidays a number of years ago pretty much glued to my laptop talking to people in France and America. Not giving attention to my girlfriend at the time, my younger sister or my mum and stepdad. It is an issue we all have. A great video which addresses this and which I would highly recommend was made by an online video company called Roosterteeth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMltj_57Mm0 (The actual video is subscribe to watch but you can apply for a 30 day free trial with no immediate resubscribe thingy and tbh it's worth it even if you just watch that 1 video) Other ideas discussed in this video, ideas of wanting to make 'an impact' ring so true as does the idea of shallow relationships. I am personally very lucky to have a number of friends that I have strong relationships with that I trust very much. But, I have observed many people I know make and loose friendships, and relationships, so easily, almost casually. Please, anyone in their 20's or anyone feeling rather Millennial,I would highly recommend this video. And apologies for what started as a simple share and turned into...basically a short essay Here is the video that spawned this post https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hER0Qp6QJNU
Swear the things i’ve learnt in the past 7 years from 4 different girls is not to trust what they say about their feelings cos they’ll change their mind a day or so later. Guard your feelings and don’t open up because they’ll just be used against you and you’ll get dicked over. Honesty is good but be “too honest” and you’ll scare them. And don’t make fun of periods
The little things
It’s so stupid how one little thing can change your entire mood.Just a Facebook post or a random photo of someone or a text message. And your evening from pretty decent to instant miserable and jealousy and bleh. Result cutting things out of your life to make yourself feel better. Probably not going to help but need to stop seeing these things and instantly feeling shit. Yaay to unfollowing things and deleting message threads

Being optimistic and having hope for those that do not have hope in themselves only ends up making a fool out of the optimist
How to tell if fruits and veggies are ripe
someone else: *makes a mistake*
me: don't worry buddy! it is not a big deal! we can fix this! we'll figure it out!!
me: *makes a mistake*
me: i am irredeemable worthless garbage and i want to die
People hurt
It’s the people that we let get the closest that manage to hurt us the most, maybe not intentionally. But through their actions and words we can be reduced to curling up in the fetal position hiding under our covers, trying not to cry and wishing the world would burn.

Mornings at the lake
I need to stop giving so much to people that despite saying they do care. Don’t care as much as I do
When games say “GAME OVER” it’s usually in the middle when you need to try again, they never say “GAME OVER” at the end of the game - when it ACTUALLY ends.
A big issue in this world is people not doing anything for others without expecting something in return. Morally we’re expected to do things out of the kindness of our hearts, for others, for nothing. Which is a nice idea. However when you are trying to do something for someone else and are just constantly hitting a brick wall....It makes you wonder why bother, there is doing something out of the kindness of your heart and then there is trying over and over again with repeated failures and no acknowledgement.

That feeling where your missing someone and you know that they’re kinda missing you too, but you also know you can’t do anything about it. That feeling sucks ><
