Let's talk art with favy

Have you come across paintings that look mass Produced?

These paintings are often created by humans but it lack originality and Soul.

These works are often nature paintings like Trees and some animals.

This form of mass production is mostly gaining popularity because people are trying to Profit off the recently booming art market.

The art market is being flooded with low effort art being made by Individuals who are trying to make a quick buck.

This is truly frustrating and Social media isn't helping either...

In the quest to stay relevant talented artists end up creating low effort work just to feed the algorithm.

Ugh! The bugs

Have you ever painted Plein Air before?

I have and I can say that it was not how I expected it to be.

I love nature and all that comes with it but it is often unpredictable and could easily become something to hate.

I read some posts on reddit about how people would prefer to use a reference photo on their phones than paint in nature due to the bugs that often invade their palettes and crawl on them.

The sun could also become an enemy when it changes its direction multiple times a day.

But in the end that is 'nature' and it never promised to be perfect.

I am an African and I can say that the colonial view of African art was passed down on us through the generations.

In essence art is not always meant to have a particular purpose for creating it, it could be marely for expressing emotions like Joy or to cure boredom. Who knows?

If you have attended an art exhibition recently, you would notice how fast paced everything can be.

People take a quick glance of the art on display, take pics and then just walk past.

They fail to truly Behold the art before them. in the past it wasn't so, and I can tell from how much the Muna Lisa is appreciated marely because of how the artist rendered the expression on fer face.

People are still interested in the story behind the painting because they truly appreciated it, paying attention to the colour, technique and all the little details .

Modern artists could create paintings hold as much depth but it would not be appreciated s much because people wouldn't take the time to actually analyze the details.

The modern world moves too quickly and it could become a problem.

I attended the Fobally Easter Art Carnival and I would definetly say that it had an ugly duckling moment.

Have you ever attended an art exhibition where the art was not treated as precious as they are? Well I have.

I can't even start to write it all here but I would advice artists to make thorough research on any open calls that you find being advertised.

Not everyone cherishes your art like you do.

Grab a snack and get comfy with me as we head to Victoria Island for day 5 of the Plus 234 Art Fair.

It was an emotional day, I was not ready for the event to end.

I was ready to face my fears on that day, I put on some expressive clothing and I even approached a famous actor for a selfie.

I would advice you guys to stick to your regular phone camera if you ever get the opportunity to take a selfie with a celebrity.

There are usually in a hurry so if you use an app that you think will enhance the photo, you might not end up taking the picture.

Do not make the same mistake that I made, I used tik tok camera and none of my pictures were captured.

I am just grateful for my friend Shedrach for taking a picture of the interaction.

The photo is even better than a selfie in my opinion.

I and my new friend Koyemi had the best time exploring the different art forms on display.

I had been attending the event for such a long time but I had never taken my time to truly appreciate what was there.

Day 4 was the first time that I ever visited the 3D art booth.

I and my old friend Nerat even met and had a chat on how art could be stolen through photographs and the dangers of exhibiting.

Immersed in Creativity: Day 3 of the Plus 234 Art Fair

I had the best time at the Plus 234 Art Fair, I have highlighted my core experiences from day three here.

I really wish I had exhibited this year but sadly I thought I needed to have so many paintings.

I also found a true art enthusiast while on my friend hunt 😂, I had a great time with her.

Day two was an adventure! Getting to the fair was a journey - think wrong buses and a super long walk. But hey, I made it! And the art? Totally worth it. I even snagged a drink from Tiger, one of the sponsors.

I learned so much, especially about muralists and how important it is to credit artists. My favorite speaker, Mr. Waduud, was incredible.

My Mind Was Blown at the Plus 234 Art Fair!

I had such an amazing time at the Plus 234 Art Fair! It was my first time attending since it started last year, and I was blown away by all the incredible art. I even got to meet some of the artists and learn about their creative process.

I learned about the importance of Instagram 😅

One of my favorite quotes from the fair was, "The future of Nigerian art depends not on who buys the art, but on who builds the ecosystem that allows artists to thrive." It really made me think about the importance of supporting local artists.
