The opening of my upcoming and debut solo show in #seoul🇰🇷 is around the corner, and I would like to open this series of posts sharing one of my favorite pieces of this exhibition.
𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮
Oil on linen, 80x60 cm.
Santiago 2025.
About the show:
As every year, I went to my hometown #santiagodechile🇨🇱❤️ and I did, together with @galerianac a little solo show called “𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐬” as an introduction version to the main exhibition opening in June 6th with @thisweekendroom_official “𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬”
Some reflections and ideas about the tittle:
“𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬” speaks to a paradox that lies at the heart of my painting practice — the way memory and imagination often blur into one another. The works in this exhibition are built from recollections that feel vivid but uncertain, as if I’ve lived them in a dream, or borrowed them from someone else’s life. Sometimes, I suspect I’m painting memories I haven’t actually lived yet — scenes or feelings I somehow expect to become part of me. In that sense, the title reflects the strange elasticity of time in the emotional landscape of painting: the future echoes into the past, and the past folds into the present.
The title 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 carries a quiet contradiction: how can we remember something that hasn’t yet happened? And yet, painting often feels exactly like that — like retrieving a feeling or image from somewhere ahead of us.
