Cicadas
a warm zephyr dances in the air
cicadas poised in their aural mirage
unaware at first, he seems so far away
who is he and why is he glowing?
a blushing breeze whirls in the air
cicadas shimmer in their curtain of sound
are you ready as he moves in closer now?
who is he and why is he smiling?
a heady gust sways in the air
cicadas flare in their song of summer
ready and closer but too far for comfort
who is he and why is he laughing?
a crisp chill courses through the air
cicadas sag in their somber silence
never ready for what gets taken away
who is he and where did he go?
a baltic whip snaps through the air
cicadas burrow in their search for warmth
in the wake of absence seethes a question
who is she and why did she care?
