Are there any BJD collectors still active on this site? Most posts I come across are from 2015-2016 :/

Recasts are not the only thing harming this hobby. The bjd world is oversaturated with dolls and companies. For example Iplehouse dolls are high quality, but their failing sales can also be attributed to other legit doll companies that sale a similar quality doll at a cheaper price.

Oh nice, so IpleHouse has announced that they’re in trouble because of recasters stealing some of their profits (I think 25%?). Keep killing the hobby, recasters. 

I’m against recast but we need to stop using recast as an excuse to everything that happens in the community. Soom dolls get recasted absurdly quick yet they still manage to sold out even expensive items (like that 2k doll set) and even release new dolls and items all the time yet iplehouse wants to blame recasts for their poor business and lack of new products. Please.

I’ve searched for the proof counterfeiters are being “bullied”. I have scoured pages of tagged recasts on insta and have yet to see a single nasty comment. You say it’s right there is front of our faces, it’s not because your lying, when that’s pointed out you suddenly jump to the defense. If you have it Show proof of the bullying.

You can dismiss me because by posting this I’m admitting I buy recasts and I know for the anti community that immediately makes me less of a person. But truthfully? As someone who buys both recast and legit, the recast secondhand market is so much better. I’m talking about friendly people who care so deeply who pack SO well and who are just all around more engaged. Might just be my experiences but I think legit sellers could learn a lot from recast owners in this area.

Morals and all that aside, buying a recast really doesn’t sound like it’s worth the hassle. If people know that they’re recasts, you can’t post them anywhere or make any friends in the hobby. You can’t join groups because you’ll just get banned. Getting any custom work done would be almost impossible because no one will work on recasts. And if you try to pass them off as legit, it’s likely that people will figure it out and you’ll be known as a liar / coward on top of everything else.

I saw a confession about ‘recast supporters’ and 'doa’ (I’m the new 17 y/o anon who’s intimidated by the community btw) and I have two questions if anyone would like to answer. 1) What does doa stand for? 2) What’s wrong with recast supporters? What’s a recast?

April Story closes sales, Souldoll discontinuing lot of dolls and custom services, bjd artists having trouble selling their latests creations… Yeah, just sad coincidences. No, counterfeits products advertised everywhere and sold for a handful of US dollars are not to blame. Absolutely not.
