He’d gone to Olivia for help weeks before Inigo’s birthday. He had to do something special for him. No ordinary birthday would be enough for his love (both in the fact that Owain likes to do things BIG, and that he loves Inigo with his whole heart, his entire being, and he deserves the world). And what is the most important to Inigo, other than his family? Dancing.
So he asks Olivia for help. Owain has never been much for grace and beauty (some of many thing that Inigo exudes), more of a strong, powerful, full of energy person. Usually bubbling with energy is a good thing when it comes to Owain, but dancing requires precision and control. Something the blond lacks immensely. Olivia helps him. He’s not perfect, but he gets better with practice. Keeps trying over and over, wanting to make things perfect for his love. Plus, he gets to spend time with his future mother-in-law. She reminds him heavily of Inigo, so much that it’s funny, and they get along well (he hopes).
So on Inigo’s birthday, he dresses himself up first, puts on a brand new fancy outfit. Dark, like his hair, it makes him look incredibly sophisticated, a look not often worn on him. Lissa helps him to look smart, smooths his unruly hair, he borrows some of her sweet smelling perfume, and she straightens out his outfit for him. He goes to finest florist in the city, gets as many flowers as he can carry. He tucks some behind his ears, into the pockets of his clothes, weaves some into his hair, and sprinkles some along the route he’ll walk Inigo.
When he’s ready, he knocks on Inigo’s chamber doors. He enters quietly, with a grin on his face as he sets his eyes on Inigo. Beautiful, absolutely stunning, a ray of sunshine, sparkles of stars, flower petals all in one. A perfect, perfect person. He takes a second to stare at Inigo, smiling, taken aback by just how much he adores him. He walks over to Inigo into an embrace, wraps his arms around his slim waist and pulls him close. Lingering for a few long seconds, for once completely speechless. He holds Inigo’s face in his hand, palm pressed ever so gently against his cheek. His breath is knocked from him, heart beating because of his much he loves him.
When he leans in to kiss him (filled with so many ‘I love you’, adoration, making up for all those years they lost), he does so while slipping flowers into his hair. They don’t compare to Inigo, however. Not even close.
“ Come, my little love, we’ve many celebrations to do! ”
He says, laughing, full of joy (Inigo just has that affect on him). He takes his lover by the hand and leads him through the hallways. All the way, the floors are sprinkled with petals; pink, purple, blue, yellow, rainbows of petals colour the floor. He leads him to the ballroom, opens the huge doors and pulls him inside. The walls inside are lined with flowers of all kinds. Owain turns, takes Inigo’s hand and tugs him close, one hand on his lover’s waist and the other laced with Inigo’s hand, fingers intertwined.
“ Happy birthday, Inigo. My little love. May I have this dance? ”
