Shizuka stood in the corner, half frozen with fear. She had faced the worst injuries during the dragon attack, had been there when Princess Delfina's death was announced, and survived her own injuries.
Yet a ball where she was forced to socialize was more fearsome to Shizuka than a dragon fight.
She held her arms behind her back and crossed her ankles. Shizuka had already scared one person off by rambling about poisonous plants. Shyly, she peeked up at the person who approached.
"I am not having much fun at this ball" Shizuka muttered. "I would prefer to be back in the Blackwood tent"
Across the crowded room, Jannara noticed the Blackwood lady practically pinned to one wall. From her posture it was quite clear Shizuka was far from interested in socializing and while she wished to honor that, perhaps if the two of them at least pretended for a few moments to be conversing it would keep anyone the Tully noblewoman was less inclined to wish to speak with from making such an attempt. Approaching slowly, easing her way over the raven haired lady nodded, offering an empathetic smile. "I would sooner join you, if my presence would not be too overbearing, that is." Jannara sighed, casting her eyes around to keep tabs on her many relatives present. "You would think with the heat offered by the climate already people would be less interested in congregating in such large groups in enclosed spaces. It does nothing to offer a reprieve from the warmth."

it seems aunt sabitha did not trust aila with their coin (which is fair considering what was meant or myrish lace was spent on a private stash of alcohol that got them through the defeat by grover's hand). though they had to wonder if they truly understood what type of garment would actually best represent the family. at least aunt jannara would be lovely company in the heat, and perhaps more lenient on the styles and color for something more fun. "i am decent at bargaining if we must."

When tasked with accompanying her niece to the markets, Jannara had been glad for the opportunity to stretch her legs and enjoy some fresh air. The actual matter of shopping was significantly less interesting to the noblewoman. She enjoyed fashion on occasion, but ultimately clothes were a means to an end, a necessity that varied based on what one intended to convey. When boiled down to its most base elements, they were a strategy, a game. And if she were to choose a game to occupy herself with it would likely never be fashion. "Hmm?" But Balan Tully had not lived over seven decades to father a fourth child, a spare for the spare's spare, because he was an easily satisfied man. Of course Jannara never wanted for anything material or of earthly comfort, but her own father and to some degree her mother were largely strangers in her early years. In the case of Hema, this lessened as she became more an individual than another burden upon the tired woman, enough that Jannara truly mourned her loss six years ago. There were too many children and grandchildren already crowding Riverrun's halls, not to mention the true work of ruling an entire region of the Seven Kingdoms . So instead there were septas and servants to occupy the youngest Tully daughter's days.
-The resentment was quiet, never growing loud or bold in the ways Sabitha's did. Jannara merely simmered, waters growing closer to a boil with each passing a year, each turn from childhood into adulthood, but never flooding over into something truly tangible. If she was to be an afterthought, it was to be taken advantage of. Not missed on the occasions she stole away to read a stack of tomes or unnoticed in certain rooms where words ought not to be overheard, she used her lack of necessity as both shield and sword, biding her time, waiting. For what? Jannara remains unsure. But perhaps just as a new tide turns across Westeros thanks to the Kingsmoot, a new opportunity will come to shore for her.
