The sunset, woven of soft lights

And tender colors, lingers late,

As looking back on all day's dreary plights,

Compassionate😊😊

Puri, Jagannath temple 🕌 🇮🇳

He ruled our puny minds and frail bodies.

He smiled from a painted black wooden face-

He that made body things and airy soul.

A merchanized drum beat it's stick in rhythm

And a yellow camphor flame lit his face.

We duly took his sanctified water to lips

And dabbed his holy sweet to closed eyes.

We took a closer look at him while returning

He was like one of us, with a doting sister by him

And a loving brother standing in attention.

( jagannath literally means the Lord of universe)
