I have learned a lot during the first print run and I’d like to put that experience to good use by making sure nobody misses out on their chance to buy the zine. The postcards and stickers will be the same as those used in the initial print run.

I saw that you're the organizer for the Farewell zine! I want to make my own zone but I'm not sure where I can put all the photos and keep them in good quality, plus picture size and file type!!! there's so much!!!! how did you do it?

god that’s….a good question!

Step 1: Pick a format. I chose A5 (5.8 x 8.3 in) but A5 isn’t the most practical of sizes bc it requires larger paper which is then cut from its usual size to the the A5. My personal preference is A4 if you’re choosing something that’s going to have a lot of words. Sure, the pages are bigger, but the quality is better and you’ll have less pages overall because you don’t have to squeeze things onto those pages. Regardless, pick a style and format and make SURE you or your artists are consistent (I don’t know if this is a collaborative project).

FILES - ask people to send in PDF files of their work if they can. It seems to me that PDFs do the best at maintaining file quality

ORGANIZATION - You’re going to want to create two folders on google drive - one for preview pictures and one for submissions

FORMATTING - I used InDesign, and I high recommend that! Watch a few tutorials if you aren’t familiar with it. Lay out your zine, and leave room for BLEED. Your bleed should be 0p9 all around. Don’t compromise on this. Check out this page if you’re confused.

If you can, estimate how many pages you want in advance. If you’re doing a cheaper project with a smaller amount of contributors or works, then you’ll be using saddle stitch binding (if you plan to print), or if you’re planning many pages, you’ll be doing perfect bound.

There’s a lot to know about coordinating with other artists/writers, the printing process and the distributing process but I don’t know what kind of project this is! I hope this info helps, though!

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works

Title: Crowsong Characters: Asahi, Daichi, Suga, Kiyoko Rating: General, although there’s background DaiSuga (because it’s meee) Tags: Graduation. Friendship. Word Count: 1.5k A/N: This was the piece I wrote for the @farewellzine and I collaborated with the wonderful @priintaniere (mainly because we both love DaiSuga and Karasuno so much). The artwork for this story is truly amazing and captures everything I wanted to say about my precious four third year crows.

Summary:

As four first years, Asahi, Daichi, Suga and Kiyoko had joined Karasuno Volleyball Club as the lowliest of members.

Between them, they put in the work and gathered others to their flock.

And they soared.

But their flight has come to an end, and all they can leave behind on this graduation day are memories of a better time.

To Asahi, Graduation Day had galloped towards him after Spring High. Yet now as he sat, Time had slowed. It was as if he were a photographer looking through a viewfinder and waiting for the frame to focus.

Two blocks away, his teammates sat together. Asahi smiled knowing there should have been four spaces between them, but the sensei hadn’t counted on Suga’s persistence as he’d slipped eel-like through his classmates, joining Daichi in the middle of the bench.

Already in line, Shimizu waited to accept her diploma. Asahi didn’t know if she was crying, but thought it likely that only he of the four was.

Touching the second button of his gakuran, he felt a thudder in his chest. They were leaving. This was their farewell. A swansong.

That’s not right.

But did crows have a song?
