Karstadt, Karlsruhe. April 2026 Drawn under an arcade due to the rain with other urban sketchers as part of the Karlsruhe chapter’s 10th anniversary event. I was sat next to a big argument between cleaners and a woman with serious mental health issues. I thought I may have had to intervene.

Winter Cafe, Karlsruhe. April 2026 The owner of the flat above the cafe came out to have a look at the sketch. He told me the history of the building and showed me plans and photos. He went to the city archives, just around the corner from here. They had plans of the building from 1790 but didn’t know where the building was so both the owner and city archive could help each other. Just before Demolition. Karlsruhe. April 2026 I wanted to quickly sketch this big old nineteenth century block (in excellent condition) before it disappears. I was lucky that a digger was parked in front of it for extra effect.
