Scattered Souls

So, as a few people know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago and has been undergoing treatment for it. She’s been handling it about as well as anyone going through chemotherapy would, but the upside is that she isn’t having any serious side effects.

The first kicker, though, is that a good... 6 years ago, or so, my grandmother passed away from a long battle with colon cancer, and I was very fond of my grandmother, as she basically half-raised me, typically while my parents were working or partying/drinking while I was little. So, suffice to say that my mother developing cancer so relatively soon afterwards isn’t exactly making the stress of worrying about her any lesser. Not only that, but they discovered a blood clot in her leg just last week, no doubt a result of her not taking care of herself despite being diabetic and having been told numerous times by her doctors to watch her diet.

The second is that I’ve had to deal with a fair bit of death over the past few years ever since. My cat who I raised from birth passed away in 2018, and just last year, my uncle died from COVID. So, the worry that I might have to deal with a fourth death of someone I care about, my mother no less, is also definitely getting to me, not to mention that I’m worried for my dad, who’s probably even more stressed and likely won’t handle it very well if mom dies so soon after my uncle (his older brother), not to mention my aunt and grandfather on his side passed away 10+ years ago.
