The words brought a soft growl from his chest and his nails gripped a bit tighter. Nipping at her skin with his teeth, he slipped the knife under the collar of her shirt and pulled. The motion cut the front of her shirt all the way down, bringing a wild grin to his lips. Using his body, he moved her back to the closest wall and embedded the blade into the drywall, his free hand moving the newly cut shirt apart so he could look her over. Pulling back, he then let both hands slide across the skin of her stomach around to grip her sides, pulling her flush against him with a growl. “I’ll replace it.”

Gods, she loved it when he growled like that. It made her heart flutter in her chest with excitement. She purred as he nipped at her. A grin greeted her lips as he cut her shirt open with the blade, exposing a black lace bralette. Allowing him to pin her to the wall, she teased him with her hips. Clara fumbled with her keys as she sat outside the Stilinski house. It had been months since she’d laid eyes on Stiles, months since she’d heard his voice, and months since he’d disappeared without a trace.

Finally, she took a deep breath and pushed the kickstand of her bike down. She placed her helmet on the seat and made her way to the front steps, hesitating only barely before she knocked on the door.

The Sheriff answered, offering the semblance of a meek smile to Clara. That surprised her, a little. In all the time she’d known Stiles, the Sheriff had been cordial and polite, but he’d never smiled at her like that.

“I’ll let him know you’re here,” he said and she thanked him, shoving her hands in her jacket pockets as she waited.

Absolutely not. She would not make the first move, not this time. Not when she’d done absolutely nothing wrong. He should’ve been comforting her, not the other way around. After all, it had been less than 12 hours since he’d broken her heart, and all because he thought once again that he’d had the authority to make a decision for her.

“And that made it okay not to try?” She croaked. “That made it okay to not even tell me what was going on? To make me think that you - ?” She couldn’t even finish the sentence, but they both knew what she meant. She reached up to wipe her tears with the sleeve of his flannel yet again, finding that they were coming faster than she could dry them and finally just giving up.

“Derek and dad they just…” he didn’t want to make excuses. Not now. He knew he had fucked up. And he knew he couldn’t just fix it. With a soft sigh, he knelt in front of her and looked up at her.

“I have no excuses. It won’t help and it won’t fix it,” he swallowed, trying to meet her eyes but having trouble, “I should have trusted you but…I killed someone…I just…I felt like such a monster. And I’m still concerned…that I’m dangerous. But I have no excuse. Not for what I did…for what I said…”

At least he wasn’t making excuses. He wasn’t pretending that there was anything else going on. That was a relief.

He was in front of her now, and looking at him was a challenge. Not because she didn’t want to or because she was afraid of him, but because she didn’t want him to see her crying. It was useless, though, she’d been crying all night and he’d seen it already.

Listening to him, she was quick to notice that he hadn’t said anything to confirm what she hoped was true: that they were alright. He’d said he was lying earlier, he’d said he was concerned, and he’d said he should have trusted her, but it still felt like there was a chasm between them and she didn’t know how to close it.

Glancing at her and seeing her tears, he swallowed and moved up, wiping her tears away with his thumbs. Seeing what he had done to her was almost worse than the reason he had done it..it was killing him to see her that way.

With a deep breath, he moved to sit beside her, shifting her easily to pull her into his embrace. His arms wrapped around her as he held her on his lap, trying to keep wiping the tears away. He didn’t know what to do to fix it…he wasn’t even sure there was a way…but he was willing to sit in silence if he had to to figure it out.

She watched him move slowly and quietly, allowing him to pull her into his lap and envelop her in his arms. She felt the chasm closing almost immediately, instinctively turning her face into his shoulder and clinging to him.

“Do not ever leave me like that again,” she murmured. “Please.” Her voice was still heavy with emotion and she was sure he could hear it. She couldn’t help it, though. She needed to hear that he was on her side.

Stiles took a very long moment, thinking very carefully about her request. He didn't want to leave her...of course he didn't. Not ever. But given who he was...would she always stay? He couldn't be sure...but he wouldn't ask her to make that promise to him. It wasn't fair.

So he nodded, pressing a kiss to her forehead as he murmured, "Never again...I promise, Clara." A weight felt like it had been lifted off him, his arms giving her a gentle squeeze. He wanted to kiss her..to hold her like things would be ok. But he didn't know if she would be ok with that, so he simply held her against him.

John leaned forward and took her lip in his teeth, pulling it between his teeth to suck the blood off her lip. His free hand snaked around to her back, slipping it under her shirt and gripping her skin, the blade running across her shoulder. When he released her lip, he moved to her ear and whispered softly, “I wouldn’t hurt you, Izzy..never.”

The tip of the blade stung only a little. The worst she could compare it to was perhaps extremely chapped lips or even a split lip from a fight. But in the end, none of that was particularly painful. This was actually far more pleasurable. A soft gasp escaped her as he snaked his hand around her back to slip under her shirt, the blade brushing her shoulder as he went. “I know.”
