Favorite Bard Boy, Jaskier de Oxenfurt

So when trouble finds him yet again and Geralt is nowhere to be seen, Jaskier spots another witcher and decides that surely the same tactic will work.

When he first arrived at Kaer Morhen, he knew immediately he didn’t belong. Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri were tangled together in something that looked like a family, and the other witchers made it abundantly clear they had no patience for a soft-handed bard.

So Jaskier did what he always did: stayed quiet, stayed out of the way, and waited for winter to pass until he could leave.

No one ever assigned him a room, so he hadn’t asked. Instead, he slipped into the stables at night, rising before dawn to make it seem as though he’d been inside all along.

Unfortunately, Ciri and Yennefer weren't so adjusted to the cold. Finally, the witchers caved in and set up a proper fireplace in the main hall. Chairs were placed around it, and more social gatherings were held there. They would be all nice and toasty, and when the fire settled down, they would head to bed.

It never occurred to them that the ashes were still hot, recently used, in the morning.

Then one night, the witchers couldn't sleep. Something in the woods was making them nervous. They found themselves roaming the halls as if on patrol. They walked into the main hall and found it to be warm.

Swords drawn, they snuck inside. What they saw froze them in their tracks.

Laying next to the fireplace, wrapped in an old tattered blanket that had been discarded in a closet and forgotten long ago, was Jaskier. He appeared worse for wear, face pale and breath visible.

"Set up a fire in the medical wing," Vesemir commanded, "And begin making strew. He needs something warm from the inside out."

As the others rushed away, Geralt couldn't help but feel a mixture of anger and worry in the pit of his stomach.

Anger at Jaskier. Why didn't he say anything?

Anger at himself. I brought him here.

And worry. Since when has he been so quiet?

Jaskier loves music, so geralt has musical notes sprinkled over his body, and a few lutes

Geralt of Rivia is an adult, he faced death countless times. He survived things that nobody should be able to survive. That man is no coward by any means. Until Vesemir calls him. Not just "Geralt". Not even "Geralt of Rivia". But that long ridiculous thing he conjured years ago. That thing Vesemir himself talked him out of using.

And they are cooped up on top of a mountain for at minimum 3 months a year
