one cool thing about having an autistic dad whose special interest is underwater spearfishing is that when he catches fish he'll just call up a nearby chinese restaurant like "hi. i caught a fish. can you cook it and i'll bring my family by?" and they're like "yeah sure come on over white boy" and the fish is delicious.

Fucking seriously lmao. Who is out there publishing fucknasty sex while simultaneously assuming that all of their readers are engaging with that content with some type of puritan intellectual detachment as the unspoken rule? That's absolutely absurd.
Of course, there's plenty of ways to enjoy smut. Of course people can also read or write smut with intellectual detachment as a creative exercise or a character study or for any other number of reasons. That's not wrong, and all of that happens in fandom, which is great! I just find it bizarre when people seem positively vibrated out of their breeches about the idea that it's not the only thing that happens.
I write porn. Of course some people are going to use it as porn! That's why it's there (in addition to me just having so many emotions about characters that I have to write about them getting together so I don't collapse into myself like a dying star) !

So I finished watching Young Sherlock yesterday and one thing I keep thinking about (spoilers ahead):
When they try to convince Bea that Silas is not to be trusted, they literally just tell her "you can't trust him". She thinks her mom went to the asylym so she couldn't harm Bea and Silas couldn't take care of Bea by himself so he took her to that other lady.
Why did no one say "Bea, we thought you were dead. You disappeared into the woods and when you didn't come back, people went to search for you. The groundskeeper came back with a dead girl and they told us it was you. There is a grave with another dead child on our family estate. Silas stole you away, told us you were dead and produced a body to prove it. And then he sent mother to the asylum to gain control of the estate." Idk I just feel like that's a more convincing argument than "he's a liar, you can't trust him"??
