What are the intersex characters in Calderas variations? If thats okay to ask, I'm curious about them.
its definitely ok to ask!
in caldera, while they still (unfortunately) assign gender, and therefore tend to still view physical bodies in a sort of 'very widespreading fluid line, but still a point a and b,' its like better than here on earth but not quite where it could be i guess either. that being said, they dont MEDICALIZE being intersex (thank.. ezmira? god? lol), so i dont have many elf-related medical terminology or Names for 'Conditions' to provide. which i prefer tbh. anwyays ill just describe their functionality etc.
CC and sargon have what would be probably sorted as "atypical genitalia" though again i dont love the sort of medicalization/dyadic centricness of that term. they were afab both because of the sort of similar "guess" that dyadic parents often do to what they think would be ""closest.""
xanthe has a hormonal variation, which caused an early start to puberty and an early end. they look a bit smaller/shorter/etc and have less developed chest. since basically everyone in caldera has developed breasts, i have to assume that breast development is not reliant on specifically estrogen-equivalent but rather some sort of other process in the elven hormonal development, and that aspect is affected by xanthe's hormonal variation.
irak just. has heterochromia. which would be intersex for fae as it means irak's internal flowers are various colours, rather than being just one colour. the fae dont have hormones or chromosomes or genitalia or majority of sexual anatomy that elves and humans do, so this is the fae equivalent. that one's multicolour wings is more gender related rather than physical, and is where being bigender comes in. i also think irak could fall under the intergender label, as being intersex does, for irak specifically, play a big part in being bigender (though obviously not the case for all intersex people, just how irak relates to gender).
crimna has pcos and hirsutism ! he is human/elf and the pcos probably relates more to the human features and traits
the royal system is also hormonally intersex and has some of the elf and human anatomy not quite lining up hormonally. usually someone elf/human would have a bit more balance in the body that sort of works with itself, but the royal system's does not. i dont necessarily have a good equivalent to on earth for this, but maybe similar to pcos as well in terms of certain hormone productions and certain conversions of them etc. without being too personal, i will say they have some subtle bottom growth down there not from hrt but just from natural hormonal influence lol but its not as noticeable as it would be if they were to be fully on hrt if that. makes sense. trying to be vague because that is Me <3 lol.
aoouuuugh i think.. thats... most everybody... (hopes i dont forget someone important) uhhhh if i do ill self reblog and add on lol
