There’s already some discussion about certain translations. And I think it’s a good thing people talk about this and start a discourse but please rememeber this when you’re watching wtfock (or any other skam remake):

A lot of context and nuance gets lost in translation 

It’s hard to translate something without some of the context or nuance to get lost. You’ve got slang, cultural references, puns,… Some words or sentences don’t even have a 100% accurate translation. We always try to keep as much of the original meaning in our translations, but that’s not always possible. 

Things can have a different meaning in a different culture

Remember you’re watching a different culture. Not every word has the same meaning as it has in your culture or language. People use different words, the same word can have a different cultural or emotional meaning. And even within the same country/culture things can have a different meaning depending om where you live or your background. 

A great example of this is the “ik zie u graag” debat of season 3. For some people this meant “I love you” for others “I really like you”. There’s no 100% right or accurate translation. In Belgium, we also say I love you much easier than in other countries and it has a less heavy meaning. But this again depends on the relationship and the people in it.

Bzz the fly goes out to find her meal. On the asphalt, surprise, she discovers a royal feast. An old pigeon on the ground, dead, all flat-flat, his wings wide open as if to tell her "Go ahead, beautiful. Eat me."

But when the fly brings back her small cutlery, her small plates, a shadow spreads on the road, which annonces something not very nice. An old, grumpy garbage man who put the pigeon in his truck. Bzz the fly can say goodbye to her snack.
