not even mentioning his actual stats, benny has spent the majority of his life in the wasteland and knows how to handle himself perfectly well. he knows what he’s doing, he ties up loose ends as best he can and will make decisions quickly and accordingly, opting for clean choices that will (ideally) not lead back to him. if anything we need to be seeing more of benny doing all that survivalist shit ppl tend to ascribe to the courier but still in a suit and tie. he did all that shit w the khans right before killing the courier without breaking a sweat.

speaking on his skill, caesar is actually annoyed with how far benny got into the fort, even commending him for his ability to do so. and i think ppl take the comment caesar makes abt how benny was “too vain” as like, evidence he’s just some pretty boy or whatever, that he couldn’t survive outside of new vegas. and it’s like. view this from caesar’s perspective for a second. of course he’d take it as a sign of vanity. but did you ever think maybe it was just a genuine oversight on benny’s part that he forgot to mess up his hair? like caesar says, benny went through all that effort, even dressing as a legionary (presumably stealth killing someone for their clothes beforehand!!!). in a life or death situation like this, when benny is running there bc he feels he has no other choice, it’s not impossible to assume he did genuinely just forget abt his hair. yes benny can be quite vain, and that is crucial to his character! but vanity and competence are not mutually exclusive. and benny is not so proud that he’d risk his plans over a bad hair day.
