Also!!! 'Never Love An Anchor' The Crane Wives Qifrey at Olly + the girls 💔

i don't really listen to Mitski and i'm. so mad about it bc her lyrics are sp freakin' INSANE [in a good way, i really like a lot of what she does]

these lyrics, from both these songs, remind me a LOT of them -> "One day you'll figure me out, I'll meet judgment by the hounds" and "With this heart of mine that's guilty, not remorseful" fit VERY WELL, because it's SO TRUE. Qifrey feels an overwhelming amount of guilt for existing, for what he does to Olruggio, but he knows he'll do it all over again because he made a promise to stay alive

if i ever knuckled down and actually drew the things i plotted in my head, i think i'd use Never Love An Anchor's second verse ["that a ship could never really love an anchor"] as a sort of dream sequence or alternate fantasy that ends with Olly's POV finding out again ["You are someone I have loved, but never known"] before Qifrey 'wakes up' or throws away the fantasy

Ok so do you how certain species of moths feed off of fabric such as wool and silk? Well can imagine little Mothfrey getting into the habit of suckling on his sleeves or collar of his appearance uniform. Or maybe one day he’s just resting in Bel’s lap, when Bel feels something damp, only to look down to see Qifrey suckling on his sleeve.

as adorable as this is, he is based off a real moth species!!! and one, unfortunately, that does not get the cloth munchies ↓ i've gotten this comment a few times, so it's probably worth it to address it now, but as much as i find the concept so!!! freaking!! cute! mothfrey will not go for clothes TwT

box tree moths, the species i based him off of, have a diet of box woods. they're an invasive species that eat the plant to death, from the bark to the leaves to-- occasionally-- the sap [though that's rather rare]

now, in this au, i've taken to calling his species a Silvertree Moth. so, while he may not eat clothes, he does eat cruor. ↓ he'll lick ink off his fingers absentmindedly, or chew the nip of his pen until it bends, and... occasionally, take the ink-stained hem of his dad's master's sleeve into his mouth when he's too sleepy to realize

i have... watched the first handful of episodes, but- frankly... never quite got the hype T_T ↓ not to say that it's bad or anything!!! Yuji is my baby boy and i love him with my whole heart. every clip i see of him is unskippable [not to mention, his dub voice is quite adorable]

and the artstyle is GORGEOUS, holy shit??? i love the vaguely sketchy feel of it, and the emotion, i love the aura of the powers and how easily the dialogue seems to flow between characters -> Megumi being down horrendous for Yuji is a hill i WILL die on

and so, you ask: why do you not get the hype, Cygnus? it seems you only have good things to say about it!

i think it's for real, just... a lack of time to watch//read it and a lack of desire to mingle with a mean fanbase [that's what my answers always seem to boil down to, isn't it?] but i can't live my life avoiding every fanbase that's a little too snippy with itself- that's just not fair to my kind audience...

i freakin' love assigning songs to ships//characters, you're speaking my LANGUAGE [i also really like the Wicked soundtrack and story, so this was pretty cool to get in my inbox]

a Wicked au would actually be really cool with these two, and while i can see them in either dynamic: i think i'm leaning more towards a Glinda!Olruggio and an Elphaba!Qifrey ↓ largely because of their stations, and Qifrey being socially outcasted for reasons he can't control while Olly is borderline idolized, but a lot of their lines would fit the opposite character [and also Olly's aptitude for magic fitting Elphaba while Qifrey's lack thereof-- at the beginning-- fits Glinda]

which, in itself, i do like actually [as meticulous as i have to be crafting an au, when this is the case, i do find it rather charming when two characters are so entwined that there are bits of the other in all that they do]

I SAW!!! HOLY SHIT!! THAT WAS SO FAST! -> and there was a BELDARUIT moment, ya'll, i'm SO EXCITED to this man animated

i thought, for sure, the wait would span a WHILE, so it's very relieving that it's already in production so close to s1's end [that being said, i do desperately wish for animation and other media to go back to 24-26 ep seasons-- even if that means its release would take longer]

(Whether or not Bel is awake you can decide, but I think it would be very cute for halfway wake up to movement, only to see the small child tucked into his arms)

this is actually SO adorable, and I can see totally Bel being a very light sleeper; like to the point where, as soon as he feels his bed shift, he's conscious -> nevermind feeling someone//thing moving his arms

The first time Qifrey creeps into his bed, he opens his eyes near immediately-- just before bitty fingers graze his wrist. Qifrey stares, hand still outstretched, and Beldaruit stares back. Then, slowly, Qifrey backs away until he's pattering back out the hall. Beldaruit stares after him, blinking widely, and lays back down. No words are exchanged, and they don't talk about it in the morning

The second time it happens, Qifrey thinks he's being sneaky. In reality, Beldaruit woke up as soon as his door creaked. He doesn't open his eyes this time, not until fluffy hair brushes his nose -> Qifrey freezes halfway under the drape of Beldy's sleeves, little hand shaking in the silky material, and for a second it looks like he might bolt again. Beldaruit gently brings him into his chest before that happens. Again, no words are exchanged, but they're not really needed anyway

It happens just far and few between enough that Beldaruit always wakes, but he's since learned it's better not to react. Qifrey tucks himself under his arms-- occasionally drawing up the blanket if it's slipped-- and dozes off in his dad's arms

fantastic question, and the answer is... ✨NO✨ :D -> I thought about it, and Qifrey certainly WANTS to take in a few more of them, but there's a lot of dangers that he'd rather not risk-- he knows full well the exploitative nature of the Brims, after all part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5

Canonfrey's apprentices become Beldaruit's apprentices, starting with Agott. He approaches her right after she's been evicted from House Arklaum, and she's sorta muttering to herself-- trying not to cry "Why won't anyone believe me...?" "I believe you." :)

turns out, being a Wise's apprentice is pretty enticing -> So, one by one, he just sorta appears with them tucked in his arms. Qifrey explains the situation, how he found them, drops them off with a headpat, and disappears again before they find out about his... occupation..

Like how since, I think you said his eyes are covered by the silverwood and you know blind in both, he can't use his glasses so how does he get around .

a LOT of it is muscle memory, he didn't lose full sight until adulthood part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4

since witchfolk are so accustomed to drawing without seeing anyway, Qifrey has plenty of experience drawing quite a fair deal of powerful spells without really looking at the specifics -> creating new spells is tricky though, so he defaults often to his sword; which is a bit less risky if something goes wrong [think Shion from jigokuraku]. He still teaches too, by having his apprentices drag his finger over the lines they made

he has pretty good spacial awareness-- has to, to protect his apprentices and 'friend'-- but they're still a bit overprotective, so in the rare occasion they're out in towns, either Olly will take his hand to help him down stairs or Ininia will hold his arm [Euini, Tartah, and Custas-- when he takes them in-- are a bit more shy about it, but they do take the time to describe things as best they can]
