I hate that we have to use āsheās someoneās daughter/sisterā as reasoning. Why is it that you only care if your sister or your daughter was a victim, and not any other woman? What is the overwhelming difference between your sister, and any other woman? Is it just their relation to you that makes you care? So is it only because your sister or daughter is an extension of you? I donāt want you to fight for me just because Iām your mateās sister or someones daughter. I want you to fight for me because I, like every other woman and girl, am worthy and deserving of love, respect and dignity. My worth shouldnāt be determined by my connection to someone else. Rather, I want to be seen as a person, not belonging to or an extension of someone else.
She is someoneās daughter. She is, but sheās so much more.
