i think that when i think about florencia , i would probably pin her as someone who wanted some control and to be part of ring - leading the group . of course , there are a lot of conflicting personalities but it was all important to her to learn the relevant skills , pull her weight and prove that she could do anything . i actually imagine that during the active part of the training , she loved this dynamic and worked really hard , probably bringing up morale at times although still getting on the nerves of some people due to her ego / high self - esteem . she thrived under pressure and the group became all important to her identity , slaying was something that she enjoyed and she had a bit of a blood thirst when it came to coming out victorious . her leaving has definitely been something that sets her apart from the others and i think she is hyper aware of this , almost carrying an energy after she left that she was better than others because she had to . she doesn't fully know how to come back , how to rebuild or how to reconnect and will probably have a negative influence on others in this day and age , pushing their buttons by trying to be in control despite the notion that really , she was the one who left and walked out on them after the horrors of what happened in 1990 .
TALISMAN . this friendship is one of the few truly genuine that she had . she feels the most guilty for leaving the talisman behind . of all the people that she genuinely thought had a good , pure soul , talisman was at the top of the list . even returning , she doesn't know whether to hurt more , push talisman away and give them a reason to see who she truly is - someone cold and unfeeling who could leave everything behind at any warning or to apologise ( something that will be difficult for her to do ) .
BEACON . this was a great relationship in the sense that it existed and it was absolutely what was needed at a time where it was just enough but , there was always something missing . maybe florencia dreams about beacon following them out there into the world but it's the last pipe dream that she has left from that time in her life and the reality is , it never would have worked , if she thinks about it more . the two of them are different now , moved on but still stuck in the past and for some reason , she does think beacon will accept her back into their life or at least offer some openness to her return . it's a strange feeling , being so close to someone once but now not truly knowing them at all .
PYRE . once they fought side by side , both different but sharing some traits that made them worthy allies when it boiled down to it but that was a long time ago and everything changed . they've been through seasons , times where they would on the other side of each others lives , uninterested and others where they connected and battled like opponents and then as friends . florencia wonders often now about the return of sycthe and the unsettling feeling that comes along with it ; she isn't sure they will be on the same side now , when florencia wonders if scythe really came back or if what lives here now , must return to the hunger .
SYCTHE . a very long time ago , when they were all one but individuals at the same time , florencia felt that she aligned with scythe . sometimes she envied the noble sacrifice made , wished that she would have put herself in that position if it would have ended it all and grieved . the return struck her though , made her feel unstable , filled her nightmares and now when she sees them , she feels a pit in her heart , squeezing and squelching as if she just saw a death itself . she can't help but wonder , one day do they have to return to the darkness ? who would allow it ? maybe , if it comes down to it this time , she'll be going with them .
GRAVE . they had never gotten a long . think , classic high school tv show , two people who butt heards at every turn . the popular girl and the one that never quite fit in . it might have seemed that easy from the outside but florencia had more to think about than that because she always heard rumours about what certain people in town did and she didn't agree with it one bit . back then , the idea of magic , anything otherworldly was off the table . you turned your nose up at it , focused on the things you could win , could possess . even now , you'll never understand their interest in the darkness because it doesn't seem like they're working very hard to change it .
ALTAR . when she gets something in her head , it's hard to get out . she didn't return to rekindle friendships , she was forced but her instincts are still sharp , she has nothing to worry about now except for fishing out who needs to be removed from the picture before the hunger strikes again . altar appears to be the top of her list of suspects , someone who doesn't belong here , someone who wants something . she can feel the death written all over it , she just hasn't figured out what their motives are yet .
CHAIN . this relationship is difficult for her because it's a combination of everything she wants and the things she can't stand . she doesn't want to be seen but she wonders if being seen , possibly being understood , is creating a false feeling of connection and discomfort . florencia constantly questions her realities , her emotions and her own vulnerability and this makes her want to stay away from any potential here . she doesn't know what the feeling is but the fact there is one is enough to want her to keep the barriers up . plus , she knows that chain doesn't hold her in the highest esteem , perhaps that's a reflection of the truth of her character .
COMPASS. florencia appreciates some of the skills the compass has , the way their brain works . it's an unlikely combination but they go way back , never close enough for her abscence to cast a shadow on their lives . she wonders now , if the humanity of magnolia creek is going to play a bigger role in whatever happens next .
✧ magnetism & persuasion . ✧
+ increased influence over others , more ease climbing social / career rankings , ability to draw others to you , more control over relationships , quick short cut to building rapport , erases feelings of loneliness , reduces social problems , allows you to manipulate others views .
– reduces genuine connection , draws unwanted attention , increases the chance of stalking/harassment , impacts self-confidence at times , creates a power imbalance , substantiates manipulative relationships , sometimes beyond control/unstable power , results in difficulties in own identity .
florencia's power is a culmination of magnetism and persuasion , she has found that this can often lead to her being able to dominate or alter the opinions of other people . her power is most successful used on those who have a desire or need to be validated , understood or have their identity affirmed . this , strangely , is most useful when working with powerful people who want to have their ego stroked . florencia has used her powers across a range of relationships and career advancements but her powers work the least with those who are closest to her or most able to see her for who she really is ( her father , chain , talisman ) .
the initial rise of her power caused a significant amount of problems as her magnetism is unstable , leading others to be drawn to her to a degree that is socially unacceptable . this can be stopped only if she is able to increase space between herself and the person who is magnetised / drawn to her however , at times , they have been in pursuit of her making this more difficult . the closer her bond is in the six , the more stable her powers become and the more she is able to use them purposefully to magnetise or persuade specific targets . when things are unstable , her powers work generically and can impact anyone in her vicinity , made worse if the person comes into physical contact with her and becomes somewhat entranced and in a state of extreme suggestibility . florencia does not like to use this aspect of her powers and will often steer away from it .
although her powers have been used for good and possibly , in some ways , moral evil , she sometimes wonders if she is using them at times without knowing it . this creates a lot of doubt and frustration for her as she does want genuine connection and understanding although she runs from it . she wants to feel she deserves all her accomplishments and they are not only because of her abilities . florencia , if she could choose , would have chosen to never have her powers so she could have lived a life where her hard work was the most important thing about her and without the trauma of any instability in her powers resurfacing in the big wide world , causing a whole heap of problems and misplaced pursuits from clients and colleagues .
