Yes, you know and I know that it was only a matter of time before an Osama Bin Laden zombie movie came out. Then I probably don’t need to tell you that it contains violence, awkward kissing, topless men, zombies, explosives, and some more awkward kissing. Actually, I did not expect the awkward kissing, so there was at least one surprise.
I would say “Make it work,” but I don’t want to take a stand on homosexuality.
The Trouble With MAGNET
I’ve always been one to get involved with networking groups. In my previous years in Madison, I would always jump at the chance to go to High Tech Happy Hour every month with my colleagues at Broadcast Interactive and MyWeather (now merged into Weather Central). I also had always kicked around the idea of getting involved with Madison MAGNET. Well, after moving away for a few years I moved back to Madison last year and decided I would make it official and pay the $50 to join MAGNET. I filled out the application and paid the money with my AMEX card via PayPal and thought everything would be all good. Well, it got to be November and I had not heard a peep from them regarding my membership or any of the things that come along with it. I sent an email and never got a response. I called and left a voicemail and never got a response. In late December I emailed again and got no response. I called and left a voicemail on the number listed on their website again and…. GOT A RESPONSE…. From a girl that had quit her job with MAGNET in November and wondered how I got her number… Their number was still forwarding to her cell phone. She said she was not too surprised that I hadn’t gotten any correspondence from them and had very few kind words to say about the organization.
Well, today must be my lucky day because I got an email response from one of the members of the Madison MAGNET board apologizing for letting my email from November “go unrecognized for such a long time.” Yeah, I can’t believe it took them 2 months to check their inbox… Even more unbelievable is that it took them 4 months to acknowledge they have my $50. Well, to try and save face they are making my membership effective this month instead of effective last September… So we shall see how this goes.
