Facts about my girlfriend

Since December 28th, 2018 when I lost my job at Walgreens, I’ve been searching for a new job. I’m happy- at least in part- to announce that I’ve received my W2 from them and was able to file my taxes. If I’m very lucky, I’ll be receiving that check before the end of the month, and with it will be able to cover rent- but that’s if I’m lucky, and we all know how scary it is to rely on luck.

And that brings me to the next big thing. Exactly one out of the dozens of applications I put out over January has returned an interview- and I was supposed to have that interview today (February 11, 2019.) However, since I’m Seattle-adjacent, and most of the state of Washington is buried under a foot of snow, they have rescheduled the interviews for all applicants, and as of right now, my interview date hasn’t been formally rescheduled- but I was told that it’d be “no later than next Monday.”

My hope was that if I could jump right into the job, I’d be able to get my first check before the end of the month and resume normal living- but with this delay, that’s not going to be the case. I was overcharged by 20 dollars for my internet bill a few days ago, leaving me with four dollars in my checking account.

I don’t know where the 600 dollars for my half of the rent is going to come from. Or the 80 dollars for utilities, 80 more for electricity. Or the next 200 dollars for my health insurance. Or any amount for groceries. And that scares me a lot.

I’m excited to think that within the next week I’ll be at my job interview, securing a stable future- but I have at least a week of total uncertainty ahead of me, and the expenses keep coming. The link at the top is my venmo, if you want to send anything my way to help.

So I’m sure y’all know that for the past three years I’ve worked for an American pharmacy retailer who need not be named. As of late yesterday evening (12/28/18), I am no longer in their employ. As of this morning, I have submitted nine job applications and am currently in the process of putting out more and waiting to hear back. This will be my daily, “finding a job is my job” kind of situation, until I land some interviews and get myself into a new position.

That being the case, my household has expenses to cover. $1255 in rent. $70 dollars for an internet connection. $120 in utilities. Another $120 on average for groceries. $200 in health insurance. $30-50 a month for electricity.

I want to resume living a life where I pay for these without any fear of total economic fallout. I’m on a timer, and I don’t want the loss of my job to tear down the life I’ve built out here in this little window it has before I can secure a new job.

That’s why I’m asking any of you that see this to donate if you feel able to do so. I don’t care about the amount, I don’t care about the frequency- I can make immediate use of anything I receive to start covering these expenses.
