Gemini 10 crew in Florida, 1966
BACK TO THE MOON
New footage from @FireflyAerospace shows their lunar lander’s view from approximately 60 miles (100 km) above the Moon. Blue Ghost will land at Mare Crisium, on the near side of the Moon, on March 2, no earlier than 3:34 a.m. EST (0834 UTC). All 10 NASA instruments on this flight are currently healthy and ready to operate on the lunar surface. The data that we collect from these instruments will help us prepare for crewed Artemis missions to the surface of the Moon.

March 16, 1966 — Gemini 8 launches on the sixth manned Gemini mission
Neil Armstrong and Dave Scott, two future Apollo moonwalkers, flew the sixth manned Gemini flight and performed the first docking of two spacecraft in orbit. While docked to the Agena target vehicle, and while out of range of ground communications, the spacecraft began to roll uncontrollably. Since so much of the reentry maneuvering propellant was used to stop the spinning, the mission was aborted and the crew was recovered by secondary recovery forces.

March 3, 1969 — Apollo 9 launches on the third manned Apollo mission
Apollo 9 was the final Earth orbital test of the Apollo spacecraft before landing on the moon and the first manned test of the Lunar Module in low Earth orbit. The mission brought back the old custom of naming spacecraft (Gumdrop for the CSM and Spider for the LM) and on mission day 4, Dave Scott and Rusty Schweickart performed the first two-man EVA in history.
