What are you most afraid of? "I thinks I'm most afraid of losing my parents and my family." Why? "Because since I was little, for everything we would, like unite. We're always together, and the moments we are not together, or our family is separated because of and argument, I always just feel really depressed. What would you do if something wore to happen to you parents? "I would breakdown but like be strong because since I'm the oldest I have to be strong for my brothers and sister."
What are your thoughts on Police Brutality? "Police brutality in one word is 'OUTRAGEOUS'. Police are place in order to serve and protect, not injure and kill. I believe police brutality is rooted from stereotypes that police officers indirectly acknowledge. This caused them to use excessive force to apprehend suspects, which naturally causes the suspects to resist which further escalates the situation, further frustrating the officer, leading to deaths of innocent civilians. These interactions although DO NOT JUSTIFY the verdicts of Eric Garners murderer and Trayvon Martin's killer. Some Caucasians also feel as if these verdicts are fair when in reality, they don't care. Cops are going after minorities. They go after the big African American males and tattoo covered Hispanic/Latinos. We deserve change. #Alllivesmatter " Ariana Class Of 2017
What was it like moving to two really different schools? "It's was hard, due to my old school being a little less rational. I never took school seriously until I came to Brays, that's when I decided to change my attitude towards school. Although I've been at Brays for a year and a half now. I still miss my old school, since it was less stressful and more later back than Yes. The only reason I moved to yes was because I had a mental Breakdown at my old high school. Due to the drama that was occurring my time there. The breakdown was really bad to where I was to move to Yes, and that's how I ended up here." Jaylen Duncan Class Of 2017
How's it living with your sister only? "um well it's pretty chill. Most of the time. Sometimes it can be really annoying because we're sisters (Sisters always fight) and we're like those sisters, who are opposite, like ones a clean freak and the other one is messy, you know but we handle it because we get along very well. I feel comfortable because I can tell he almost anything, she's my best friend. We make each other laugh and share some things in common like TV shows, so we're not fighting over the remote control. Like when I was living with my mom, we'll debate over watching Criminal Minds or Noticias 45. But overall it's pretty chill, you know." Yanet Silva
"Emmett & Amadou & Sean & Oscar & Trayvon & Jordan & Eric & Mike & Ezell &...." -Lisa Daniels 11th Grade US History Teacher
