Last Friday, a colleague said to me, "I didn't know you were that sensitive. I discovered something new about you." That comment lingered in my mind, not because it surprised me, but because it reminded me of something precious: my sensitivity.
In a world that often values toughness and resilience, sensitivity is sometimes seen as a weakness. But for me, itâs a treasure. Itâs the part of me that allows me to connect deeply with others, to understand and empathize with their feelings. Itâs what makes me appreciate the small, beautiful moments in lifeâthe way a kind word can change a day, or how a simple gesture can convey so much.
Being sensitive doesnât mean being fragile; it means being in tune with the world around me. It means feeling things deeply, caring intensely, and loving wholeheartedly. Yes, it makes me vulnerable at times, but it also makes me strong. Itâs what drives me to protect those I care about, to stand up for what I believe in, and to be a source of support for others.
So, if my sensitivity is something new youâve discovered about me, then Iâm glad. Because itâs a reminder that my greatest strength lies in my ability to feel, to care, and to connect. And thatâs something I wouldnât trade for anything.

The boy who cried wolf
Once upon a time, there lived a shepherd boy who was bored watching his flock of sheep on the hill. To amuse himself, he shouted, âWolf! Wolf! The sheep are being chased by the wolf!â The villagers came running to help the boy and save the sheep. They found nothing and the boy just laughed looking at their angry faces.
âDonât cry âwolfâ when thereâs no wolf boy!â, they said angrily and left. The boy just laughed at them.
After a while, he got bored and cried âwolf!â again, fooling the villagers a second time. The angry villagers warned the boy a second time and left. The boy continued watching the flock. After a while, he saw a real wolf and cried loudly, âWolf! Please help! The wolf is chasing the sheep. Help!â
But this time, no one turned up to help. By evening, when the boy didnât return home, the villagers wondered what happened to him and went up the hill. The boy sat on the hill weeping. âWhy didnât you come when I called out that there was a wolf?â he asked angrily. âThe flock is scattered nowâ, he said.
An old villager approached him and said, âPeople wonât believe liars even when they tell the truth. Weâll look for your sheep tomorrow morning. Letâs go home nowâ.
Moral: Lying breaks trust. Nobody trusts a liar, even when he is telling the truth.

My mom only had one eye
My mom only had one eye. I hated her⊠She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.
There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.
How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, âEEEE, your mom only has one eye!â
I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, âIf youâre only gonna make me a laughing stock, why donât you just die?â
My mom did not respond⊠I didnât even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings.
I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.
Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then one day, my Mother came to visit me. She hadnât seen me in years and she didnât even meet her grandchildren.
When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at her, âHow dare you come to my house and scare my children! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!â
And to this, my mother quietly answered, âOh, Iâm so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address.â â and she disappeared out of sight.
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.
My neighbors said that she died. I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.
âMy dearest son,
I think of you all the time. Iâm sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.
I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you. Iâm sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.
You seeâŠâŠ..when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldnât stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine.
I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.
With all my love to you,
Your mother.â
Donât Hope,⊠Decide!
While waiting to pick up a friend at the airport in Portland, Oregon, I had one of those life-changing experiences that you hear other people talk about â the kind that sneaks up on you unexpectedly. This one occurred a mere two feet away from me.
Straining to locate my friend among the passengers deplaning through the jet way, I noticed a man coming toward me carrying two light bags. He stopped right next to me to greet his family.
First he motioned to his youngest son (maybe six years old) as he laid down his bags. They gave each other a long, loving hug. As they separated enough to look in each otherâs face, I heard the father say, âItâs so good to see you, son. I missed you so much!â His son smiled somewhat shyly, averted his eyes and replied softly, âMe, too, Dad!â
Then the man stood up, gazed in the eyes of his oldest son (maybe nine or ten) and while cupping his sonâs face in his hands said, âYouâre already quite the young man. I love you very much, Zach!â They too hugged a most loving, tender hug.
While this was happening, a baby girl (perhaps one or one-and-a-half) was squirming excitedly in her motherâs arms, never once taking her little eyes off the wonderful sight of her returning father. The man said, âHi, baby girl!â as he gently took the child from her mother. He quickly kissed her face all over and then held her close to his chest while rocking her from side to side. The little girl instantly relaxed and simply laid her head on his shoulder, motionless in pure contentment.
After several moments, he handed his daughter to his oldest son and declared, âIâve saved the best for last!â and proceeded to give his wife the longest, most passionate kiss I ever remember seeing. He gazed into her eyes for several seconds and then silently mouthed. âI love you so much!â They stared at each otherâs eyes, beaming big smiles at one another, while holding both hands.
For an instant they reminded me of newlyweds, but I knew by the age of their kids that they couldnât possibly be. I puzzled about it for a moment then realized how totally engrossed I was in the wonderful display of unconditional love not more than an armâs length away from me. I suddenly felt uncomfortable, as if I was invading something sacred, but was amazed to hear my own voice nervously ask, âWow! How long have you two been married?
âBeen together fourteen years total, married twelve of those.â he replied, without breaking his gaze from his lovely wifeâs face. âWell then, how long have you been away?â I asked. The man finally turned and looked at me, still beaming his joyous smile. âTwo whole days!â
Two days? I was stunned. By the intensity of the greeting, I had assumed heâd been gone for at least several weeks â if not months. I know my expression betrayed me.
I said almost offhandedly, hoping to end my intrusion with some semblance of grace (and to get back to searching for my friend), âI hope my marriage is still that passionate after twelve years!â
The man suddenly stopped smiling.
He looked me straight in the eye, and with forcefulness that burned right into my soul, he told me something that left me a different person. He told me, âDonât hope, friend⊠decide!â Then he flashed me his wonderful smile again, shook my hand and said, âGod bless!â
je te laisse un ocĂ©an dâamour Ă toi dây plonger.Â

Choose your words wisely
Once upon a time, an old man spread rumors that his neighbor was a thief. As a result, the young man was arrested. Days later the young man was proven innocent. After being released, the man felt humiliated as he walked to his home. He sued the old man for wrongly Accusing him.
In court, the old man told the Judge, âThey were just comments, didnât Harm anyone..â The judge, before passing sentence on the case, told the old man, âWrite All the things you said about him on a piece of paper. Cut them up and On the way home, throw the pieces of paper out. Tomorrow, come back to Hear the sentenceâ.
The next day, the judge told the old man, âBefore receiving the Sentence, you will have to go out and gather all the pieces of paper That you threw out yesterdayâ. The old man said, âI canât do that! The wind must have spreads them and I wonât Know where to find themâ.
The judge then replied, âThe same way, simple comments may destroy the honor of a man to such an extent that one is not able to fix it. The old man realized his mistake and asked for forgivenessâ.
Moral: Do not malignant or blame anyone without knowing the fact or a truth. Your words may ruin someoneâs reputation without any fault of theirs.
One who read the future
A man who lived a long time ago believed that he could read the future in the stars. He called himself an Astrologer and spent his time at night gazing at the sky. He was always busy worrying about future and villagers often came to him, hoping to know what their future holds.
One evening he was walking along the open road outside the village. His eyes were fixed on the stars. He thought he saw there that the end of the world was at near. He lost in his thoughts about the future. As he was looking at the stars, he kept walking without looking down. Suddenly, he fell into a ditch full of mud and water.
He was sinking in the muddy water, and madly trying to claw at the slippery sides of the hole in his effort to climb out. He was unable to crawl out and fearing for his life, he started screaming for help. His cries for help soon brought the villagers running.
As they pulled him out of the mud, one of them said, âYou pretend to read the future in the stars, and yet you fail to see what is at your feet! This may teach you to pay more attention to what is right in front of you, and let the future take care of itself.â
âWhat use is it,â said another, âto read the stars, when you canât see whatâs right here on the earth?â
Moral: We all want our future to be bright and happy, but the time doesnât stop for anyone. Each tomorrow turns into today, your present is also a part your future. There is always a tomorrow to look forward to and improve, but you canât go back to yesterday. So, maintain the balance of your present life while you work for a better tomorrow.

Do you know what kind of people I love the most? Neither the beautiful from the inside nor the pretty from the outside, and definitely not the ordinary people. Why's that? The outside prettiness will one day fade out, the inside will turn into ugliness in the face of an obstacle in life, and the ordinary people will go crazy in times when you can only hold onto your imagination. I love the pain, I love the broken people, the ones that are shattered by life. Pain does makes us human, it brings us to life. Being shattered, means you were once a dreamer, you had imagination, you were not ordinary because you didn't know that people wear masks, and you were definitely beautiful so that others feel jealous enough to break you. But the good with broken people is that they were once beautiful uncommon dreamers and they continue to be the most beautiful people, the most extraordinary beings and lastly the deepest dreamers.
