Everett smirked and leaned in closer across the table. “Attention is all I ever wanted.” To be honest he had rambled on a bit how Berkley MacBeth had refused to even come to visit or invite him over. God, she was making him whiny. Or worse, was he always whiny? 

“I need your attention and your music was too loud. We’re going to have an extra practice this week. I need you guys to be ready for the next game.” They had winter break and Sol was pretty sure very few is any of her teammates had kept up with their conditioning over that time.

“My brain is still on holiday, did you say extra practice? Who are you so worried about? Hufflepuff?” He raised an eyebrow while pulling his headphones off his ears and around his neck, his music still playing through them.

“I’ve been telling you about my holiday and asked you a question only to realize you weren’t listening.” Everett huffed with a smile on his face. The pillow had been a notebook until he transfigured it into a pillow, “Didn’t want to mess up that pretty face.” 

“Who put that mistletoe there? Certainly not me.” Winter hijinks is better than just plain hijinks. Throughout most of this winter break from Hogwarts when she enters an establishment she charms mistletoe in the entryways when she thought the shop assistants weren’t paying attention. “You know what I would do? Snow flurries that vanish just above the floor.”

Taking a glance up and then back over his shoulder Fabian rolled his eyes. “I don’t know, you’re acting pretty guilty there. Although I guess you’ve chosen a good place to throw it out there.” He poked the reindeer stuffed animal. “The real question I guess would be why you went with mistletoe and not the snow flurries. Perhaps you’re looking to kiss someone under the mistletoe?”

Cass went back to sorting through records, flicking through them with relative ease. “Nothing to add to the collection yet. This section’s just used records. The wall over there’s all the newer stuff. All Hallows Adam put a lead single out for their new album this week. It’s pretty good.” Cass babbled away, as always. He eyes his friend with a light frown, “Didn’t know you were into music.”

“’The others’?” She gave him the clipboard and pen, quirking a brow as she frowned at Fabian. She took the clipboard back after he signed, and her next comment slipped out like word vomit, before she could stop it. “Let me guess. You’re the type to bring up men’s rights on International Women’s Day,” She flicked her gaze across him, looking him up and down dismissively. “Typical.”

“Did you know veela are legally required to state their blood status on all official forms? Including on things like rental applications, even job applications? Where it’s not even relevant? It means so many veela families are forced into bad housing or unemployment just because of their blood status. The Ministry’s response has just been to make registration for other beings even stricter. Could you sign our petition for the Ministry to make laws safer and fairer for veela, and all our community?”

Cass flicked through the records, giving a sigh as he searched through the new collections that had been brought in over the school term. His head bopped along to his own music as he seached, but was abruptly interrupted by someone tapping his shoulder. Cass blinked, pulling his headphones off and turning his head, fingers still resting over the records so he didn’t lose his place. “Sorry? Didn’t catch that, what did you say?”

Predictable. Well, kinda predictable. Fabian had already checked a few record shops before Hickey’s and had even picked up some biscuits to snack on. “This is the first time I’ve come here. Find anything you like?”
