I’m experiencing this post-race with a strange sense of disinhibition. I can’t believe we’ve just witnessed Carlos’ last podium of his career, and with it, the last Carlando podium. Honestly, these past six years of my life have been all about watching Formula 1 for them—for Carlos and for the hope of seeing McLaren finally competitive and winning races. And now that this dream has been realized, I can’t feel truly happy because Carlos’ career has been stifled right at the peak of his prime.
We could have seen more battles with Lando, but instead, everything for him is reverting to the McLaren-era struggle. Now he’ll have to work hard to rebuild Williams and bring them some stability. Who knows if the scenario will change again in the future?
