a priest that leads a soft and bleating lamb to the pulpit, his congregation buzzing, and plunges the knife into the sacrifice upon the altar. white wool, fresh from the womb, turning crimson and spongy. the blood flows down the steps and laps at the pews.

“but we have no need of sacrifices,” a brave soul in the congregation calls out. “we do not do this anymore. Christ was the final lamb.”

these words are ignored, for the blood flows so sweetly, so purely, washing away the priest’s sins. the next lamb is brought to the altar. this one is screaming and no longer brave.

a rosary that’s beads are dripping a deep and dark red. was it not Mary's blood, afterall, that brought their Savior into the world? the first and most primal violence: birth. the priest remembers Mary. he presses the rosary into the hands of a believer and when they pull away, their hands are stained. it must be the beads’ dye rubbing off from age, right?

at communion the wine is a bit too dark, a bit too metallic. the Crucifix above the pulpit’s wooden face is frozen in an agony that looks a bit too real.

My hand slipped

One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.

And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.
