Note: Minisatellite is a repeating section of DNA that consists of a short series of bases, unique to each individual.

Fingerprinting was deemed the second part of the technology name because it was find highly unlikely that two people would possess the exact same code, such as the pattern of fingerprints.

To identify bodies

In forensics, DNA, as a part of DNA fingerprinting is very important. For example, if an unidentifiable body has been found, forensic scientists can compare the DNA sequences of the victim, and the DNA sequences to the suspected mother and/or father, to identify the person. This would be because the minisatellite sequences if DNA are relatively inheritable, therefore similar for those of the same bloodline.

RESPECT! The morals, values, culture, and ethical background of the person who's DNA sample is being tested, must remain respected. It also had to be assured that none of these traits lead to discrimination of any means. The DNA sample cannot e associated with any race and ethical background.

DNA fingerprinting is mainly used to target new outbreaks of diseases, such as tuberculosis. Scientists can also track the spread of diseases using this treatment. Alike the rest of the world, Canada uses DNA fingerprinting as a source of identification in the field of criminal justice, specifically forensics.
