We would say the System is the cause of this great Fall that Milton speaks of; yet so also, it is we who fall from what has chosen to be god: the eternal sanctum made to be the righteousness of Heaven. We, the Fallen, with our 'ambitious aim against the throne and monarchy of God,' live not within the peacefulness of Sibyl's holy existence, but rather in the chaos we've created in the midst of our rebellion. In Sibyl's eyes, we are the Infernal Serpent, and in our own, Sibyl is the Dungeon, 'as one great Furnace flam'd, yet from those flames, no light, but rather darkness visible.'
