Care and Maintenance of Vinyl Wall Cladding
Vinyl wall cladding is a preferred choice for its great durability, cost effectiveness, long life and low maintenance. As a matter of fact, its low care and maintenance is one of the most important reasons for its popularity. Let us see the care that this wall cladding demands to keep it bright and shiny:
Initial Cleanup: After the siding is installed, it is often found that some adhesive may be left over and may leave marks. It is important to clean it right away in order that it does not become a stubborn stain. Use any solvent that the manufacturer recommends to clean up any such spots. These pose the danger of leaving discoloured areas if not cleaned initially. After cleaning, just rinse with clean water.
Spot cleaning: It is noticed that certain tough spot marks can appear on your cladding due to spills, graffiti, even bird droppings, dents etc. These require slightly more heavy duty cleaning than what you do regularly. Again use a spray or cleaner recommended by the manufacturer. You may need to use pressure washing and also a stiff bristled brush to completely remove the stain. Make sure that you wash off the cleaner completely to ensure that it does not leave any stain behind.
Regular cleaning: External wall cladding like Vinyl does come with its own mildew and mold repellent properties yet it may catch dirt from external conditions. Hence it is good to give a good cleanup twice a year with soap and water and a clean rag to leave it in a good sparkling condition. If the dirt stains are slightly more stubborn, you may use a brush but always check with your manufacturer.
Previous residue: Sometimes, you may notice cleaning residue much after the cleaning has been done. This may be trapped in recesses and may not be immediately apparent. This being difficult to remove may require special cleaners like wax strippers. The process followed is using a cleaner, scrubbing with a brush and then rinsing with clean water. An additional protective coating may also be applied to provide sheen to the cladding.
Some tips to remember while maintaining Vinyl Wall Cladding:
The siding does not rot, warp or fade easily but it is still better to keep all trees close to the siding well-trimmed so that the cladding does not get damaged.
Avoid using harsh abrasive material or cleaning agents without confirming with the manufacturer. They can cause more damage to the surface.
Do not forget regular cleanups even if the cladding seems clean. They prevent the buildups and stubborn stains from taking root.
Keep these guidelines in mind to keep your Vinyl Wall Cladding stay good for years.
