Yes it was 100% about Dance Moms that Danceplex closed. They found out from the producer on a Monday that they weren’t chosen. She closed the studio on Friday of that week, the day after their company photo shoot for the new season. Facts.

FYI MAAM is $1000/month for the regular program. The studio “competition team” program is different- $500/month per student, 40 students minimum for them to critique a studio’s comp dances 🙄
Danceplex is absolutely closed. It is now the future home of Tap’d Out- a tap company run by Zach Kelley. Look up his post recently about his new space. That’s Danceplex. The sign is off the front of the building- the studio doesn’t exist so all videos posted from ma’am going forward are all old.

A parent told me it was $500 per dancer with a minimum of 40 dancers per month. I think they were doing a one-hour class every week for four weeks alternating weeks with Mollee/Alexa and one hour of critiques for a group chosen by the studio each week. Apparently, they also offered $350 for solo critique per solo. Not 1000% on the accuracy of this info but I believe it.

I've got not idea, I just asked the parents how much it was advertised for. I'm curious to see how much their 'studio mentorship' program is.

No, it's definitely way too expensive. My local studio (pretty popular, attends bigger competitions and conventions) currently charges $240 a month for 4 hours of class. That would be in person and with in-house faculty. You could maybe expect to pay more for a California studio/faculty but I would expect a bit of a 'discount' for an online/Zoom-based class so it should even out.

It was $25 to audition and then it is $1000 a month for 2 hours of online class per week (one hour Alexa, one hour Mollee) plus a t-shirt. I think the mom said it was October - December with absolutely no drop outs but not 1000% sure on that part.

it is true Alexa shut it down because she didn’t want to run it anymore which I think the parents deserve an explanation. it was super wrong for her to just ghost them. she just couldn’t afford still running it. i don’t know where people got the dance moms part of it.
I confirmed with a couple of different parents that it was due to a television show, not sure if it was Dance Moms or something else but it was a TV show that the network didn't end up going forward with. Alexa's lease for the Danceplex building was up at the end of October, she no longer has that space.

After some investigating, if you look closely the kids are wearing the same dancewear in multiple videos that are posted on different days. Based on what some of the Danceplex moms have hinted at, the anon is for sure true.

She has 3 kids with him. But yes, not a huge fan of her and find it hard to support dancers when they do her choreography.
Do you know much about the Mather's religious views and how much that comes in to play at the studio? Someone recently exposed the church they go to as having a history of homophobia, I believe they outed then fired a church member when he refused conversion therapy. And the church has transphobic webinars posted on their socials.
I'm really not that invested and to be honest, I try not to seek out that information. Of course, that's horrible, and knowing this now does impact my opinion but it wasn't information I needed to know nor would I look more into it because I'm really just here to support dancers' performances.
Speaking of Alexa I heard from a mom who was there that Alexa shut down the studio because she just did not want to run it anymore. Danceplex was going to be on the new dance moms and then they didn’t get chosen. That’s the whole reason she fired Kayla… So Alexa could be the only one on dance moms and look like she does it all even though Kayla ran everything for 3 years… It was a shock to all of the kids. She totally ghosted every mom and dancer who reached out to her asking what happened.
Then she starting texted the kids asking them to promote MAAM. Super sneaky to do that without telling the moms. Also not a good look for a Streetz faculty to text minors anyways.
Do you know if the studio is still open? I was not sure if the team closing means dance plex studio is closing too..or is that where they are running MAAm?

But genuinely that is so fucked up. I know everyone was wondering what had gone on since they had team pics and then randomly closed. This makes sense though because they must have heard they didn't get Dance Moms or whatever and then she decided she didn't care enough to run the team. So devastated because Kayla made that such a good, positive environment for so many kids and then Alexa tries to take the credit?
About MAAM...like I said, flop after flop. It seems like an online thing since the kids doing it are from all over? Very shifty that she approached kids directly when a lot of the kids are juniors to young teens, def not appropriate. Not sure how much they are charging those kids for that nonsense but hopefully it's no more than $25 a month. They have brilliant dancers doing it when the choreo is looking like a preschooler came up with it for a talent show.
I don't know if the studio is open still, if anyone lives nearby they should go see if you can still drop in/book the space! Idk that without the comp team and frequent drop in classes they could afford to keep it going tbh.
