There are two versions of this mask in the timeline: In its original form, the mask is an identity tool and a documentation instrument. The camera captures video and heat signatures. The recordings from this period are usable but unreliable, meaning frames sometimes glitch, audio occasionally drops, and typical footage corruption by the hands of The Operator. In the post-O.S.F. version, the camera documents what's there and the O.S.F. field actively maps Operator adjacent movement patterns within its range, giving that info to what Eli can see through the red lenses in real time. The footage itself looks roughly the same — there is still static near strong presence, still occasional frame drops, but its less frequent than before.
