my illness will always be a huge part of my identity and to me that isn’t a bad thing. maybe abled people (and some disabled people) should stop thinking of ‘letting your illness define you’ as a negative thing. you may see it that way but most of us see our illnesses as an important and even a positive part of who we are and we have every right to include or illnesses as part of our identity.
