bio
Emmeline’s story wasn’t a new one. In fact it was so cliched and in her own opinion pathetic she did almost anything possible to avoid telling. Her father had been a loser, a handsome muggle born loser with a nice Scottish drawl that had charmed her pureblood mother, who had the world in the palm of her hand, including a betrothal to a Malfoy man to throw it all away for ‘love’. Her dad stuck around longer than expected, but when she was five and her elder sister Maria was seven he split without so much as a goodbye to his girls, leaving her mother without a penny to her name, and two little girls.
Maria handled things a bit differently that Emmeline, and her reputation proceeded both Vance sisters once they arrived at Hogwarts. Mar went through school drunk off cheap wine, high on the gillyweed Mundungus sold her and the arm of whatever bloke threw a glance her way. She was headed nowhere fast and everyone knew it, but Emmeline, Emmeline was meant to be different. All her life she worked harder than her sister. She came home each year with the highest marks and all of her professors liked her. She had finally convinced the school she wasn’t her sister when it all came crashing down.
The younger Vance sister wasn’t a stranger to parties, and the reason everyone seemed to like her was she was she could have a good time without getting too wild, and wasn’t a snitch like everyone seemed to think girls with good grades ought to be. What most of the school didn’t know was her habit of slipping off into dark corners with whatever bloke wanted her once she had a drink or two. Somehow she had managed to keep it all a secret, and no one was whispering about her, right up until last week Skeeter published an article, claiming that Emmeline had slept with half the bloody school, and the horrible part was the fact it was true, or close to true anyway. Now she hears her peers whispering about how maybe the Vance girls are more alike than it seemed, and calling her names that make her sick. This wasn’t who she wanted to be, this wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
