Existential Innuendo

Many of us are strikingly harsh narrators of our life stories. We hint to ourselves that we’ve been morons from the beginning. There could always be ways of telling very different, far kinder, and more balanced stories from the very same sets of facts. You could give your life story to Dostoyevsky, Proust or Jesus and come out with a rather bearable, moving, tender and noble story.

Why did Proust have to write a 4000 page novel especially when there is no coherent plot? The point he's trying to make can only be experienced (as opposed to realise intellectually) Reading his book, our senses are reawakened, a thousand things that we normally forget to notice are brought to our attention, he makes us for a time, as clever and sensitive as he was and for this reason alone, we should be sure to read him and the 1.2 million life – giving words he so deftly assembled. www.instagram.com/existential_innuendo
