✧ - It was so vivid. All too familiar. Just the sight it all… it was overwhelming. Please, make it end. All she heard was the shouting of the crowd, the fire ablaze, and the ear-piercing shriek of the women who were burning to a crisp, from the bottom up. Those who were fortunate would die from inhaling the toxic gases from the flames but those who weren’t so lucky… they would face a terrible death.
The townspeople were after her next. She was sprinting to a nearby forest, hoping to loose the ones who were chasing after her, but it seemed to be of no use the more she ran. It seemed that she was slowing to a snail’s pace, the people catching up to her. Sypha was terrified, trembling, but she wasn’t able to do anything. All of a sudden, a man hit her with an blunt object and everything went black. She knew why this happened. She was a witch. They were meant to be burned, for they were the so-called helpers of Satan. It wasn’t the case for all of them. May God have mercy on those who were wrongly killed. But the people… What has humanity come to?
Sypha had been stirring in her sleep before waking up in a cold sweat. It felt real to her, even if it happened so long ago. When will these nightmares end? She can’t even sleep properly now since she seemed to be waking up so often, even if she had a nightmare or not. Tears began to form in her eyes, which would eventually stream down her face while she was quietly sobbing.
rain pours outside, as it did for days—— weeks, even. it’s as if the skies pleaded & cried at the world’s suffering. in the night, trevor finds that the torrent can give him a reprieve, soothing him to sleep with even more ease.
it’s still dark & sypha discomfort makes him stir in turn. he never was the heavy sleeper. it doesn’t take long for him to stumble back into reality, darkness filling his sight. it was still late in the night, the sun far from rising in somber, weeping skies. for a while, trevor had the time to adapt sleeping close to sypha. the proximity & the warmth it gives appease his inner demons & the whispers—— it is far more preferable to the loneliness he was so used to.
sypha trembles & so does his heart. an arm that was loosely ‘round her frame wrapped some, protective in his affection. lips would soon found themselves pressing lovingly against her forehead in a comforting attempt. he hopes it will be enough to sweep her away from her worries—— & stop the tears from falling...
❛ you’re not alone, sypha. ❜ tone is gentle, voice hoarse from the lack of wording. a yawn contorts his features, unseen in the dark. ❛ not anymore. ❜
