For anyone who doesn't live with children or watch cartoons on a regular basis, Nickelodeon went off the air for 8 minutes and 46 seconds today. During that time, instead of playing shows or commercials, there was a Nickelodeon orange background with scrolling and repeating messages about racial equality, the right to education, and the right to be safe from harm and hatred.
For those who aren't aware, as I wasn't until I googled it, 8 minutes and 46 seconds was the exact amount of time that George Floyd was pinned on the ground.
There's nothing subtle about this and I'm just. Shocked. In a good way of course, I've just never seen this sort of rallying behind a race-based social movement.
It's Pride Month, but it's a bit different this year. Remember how we got here, and remember who got us there.
You can donate to multiple bail funds and other movements here
More:
âLawyers offering pro bono services for arrested protestors. Minneapolis, Houston, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles. I know there are far more
This is great, it really is. But also: if you can, and especially if youâre up on charges that could result in prison time, please ask your local BLM or other activist group about pro bono lawyers that they have a experience with.
Handling activist cases takes experience. Like any aspect of legal cases, itâs something people specialize in and someone who isnât specialized in it yet is going to have less results. If at all possible, find a lawyer that has done a case like yours many times before.
Itâs great that so many people who do not usually take activist cases are stepping up now that a lot more lawyers will be needed. Some of them might stick around and pretty much every activist movement needs more committed pro bono activism lawyers. But, ya know.. still think about how complicated your case is as you decide who should represent you.
Please, if you're doing Blackout Tuesday, use that tag because the BLM tag looks like this right now

i understand that not everyone can donate rn even if they really wanted to. i myself am currently unemployed and cannot donate much more than i already have atm !! not donating is okay - pls donât feel guilty if you do not have the means to do so.
if donating is not a possibility right now, ive found this 1 hour video you can watch on youtube where all proceeds from the ad revenue will go to an organization to help the cause (more info in the videoâs description). op has compiled songs and art from Black artists to listen to. you can leave it on to play in the background or plug in earphones and go about your business as usual. it canât get more simple than that.
as a fandom thatâs known to mass stream, it would be amazing if you could channel that energy into watching this video !!!!!
intro to streaming culture 101 for the newbies :

Tumblr users are often so arrogant and it shows. They can draw a full cast of POC characters but when POC say "Hey we want more than just our skin tone" they're suddenly deaf as shit.
Representation on Tumblr has become a way for white people to win brownie points just because they took a Hershey's bar and slapped it onto a person's skin tone.
The most disgusting thing is that they insist on making JUST African-Americans. They insist on making JUST one facial type, one nose type, one lip type, one hair type, one slang type, one skin tone.
And when they make a person Asian, it's Japanese. And when they make a person Hispanic, it's Mexican. And when they make a person indigenous, they never specify on which tribe/nation they came from, but you'll bet they're Native AMERICAN.
But my favorite part is when other POC demand representation and those same fucking white people are like "But but but look at all my black characters!!!!"
POC isn't just confined to America.
POC isn't just black.
POC isn't just Japanese.
POC isn't just Mexican.
POC isn't just Native American.
It's from the Miskitu in Nicaragua, from the highlands of Ethiopia, from the deserts of Saudi Arabia, from the mountains of Indonesia. It's from the arroz con gandules, from the folk music, from the festivals. It's many cultures blending, it's speaking more than just English, it's dealing with racism unique to our countries of origin.
It's more than just one universal experience, and white Tumblr isn't willing to show that.
Basically for the people who refuse to fucking read
Can you guys do some actual fucking research on anywhere other than whats at the borders of America before you slap a random ethnicity or race onto a character?
Btw: White people PLEASE reblog but do not clown on the post.

teenage powerpuff girls i guess
Buttercup is 1000% a butch. Bubbles is a chaotic femme and blossom is just your causal lesbian.
this pride month, please please please do not let the black lives matter movement go ignored. the lgbtq movement owes so much to black members of our community. we are not free until all of us are.
what is happening now is change in action. if you care about activism, and you should, you know that blm deserves to be seen, their voices to be heard.
pride matters, and we should still celebrate, still fight, still demand our place in the world. but black and indigenous people need our support right now. cops are not our friends. oppression is never okay. privilege is never comfortable. if you are white or non-black, refuse to let support for blm die down.
this pride, letâs fight for each other. demand spaces for lgbtq people of colour. let their voices be heard. listen.
you can help.
characters saying âletâs go homeâ/âIâm homeâ after overcoming the most perilous of predicaments, the most overwhelming of ordeals, will always be a finishing move more powerful than whatever the hell they used to actually beat the final boss just now
You know what doesnât sit right and will NEVER sit right...
How George Floyd, a good innocent black man went to the store to buy things who then was murdered by a police officer for suspected forgery.
Then the next day Peter Manfredonia, a white armed serial killer who was on the run across 4 states, was caught and arrested peacefully.
And how black and black ally protesters in Minneapolis protesting for the arrest of the officers who killed George Floyd, were attacked by the police. They were peaceful.
But a few weeks ago, white people stormed governments buildings in Michigan protesting the quarantine because they wanted a haircut and the police did nothing to them. They were armed.
The problem is clear as water. WHITE PRIVILEGE AND RACISM. It exists and is real. Deny it? Youâre the problem. Donât say or do anything about it? Youâre the problem. Abuse your white privilege? Youâre the problem. Donât see a problem with all this? YOURE THE PROBLEM.
CRY WITH THE BLACK COMMUNITY. MOURN WITH THEM. STAND ALONG SIDE WITH THEM. FIGHT FOR THEM. BECAUSE BLACK LIVES ARE IMPORTANT AND THEY ABSOLUTELY FUCKING MATTER.

Fixing plot holes again. If youâve been wondering why Weasley twins âhavenât noticedâ Peter Pettigrew, here is the only plausible explanation, cause iâm personally not happy with the âtheyâve been looking the other wayâ version
The way Sokka and Aang look in legend of korra has always bothered me and I just realized itâs because they werenât drawn with their wide noses :(
Itâs been 5 months and I was thinkin about this again
like,, itâs not perfect but they look a little bit more like themselves when they donât have white-people noses
bringing this back since atla is getting popular again and Iâm already seeing lots of people drawing the characters with skinny little white people noses đ
