“Slash” was a fanzine created in 1977 by Steve Samiof and Melanie Nissen. It was focused on showing the punk movement of Los Angeles, but his first edition shows Dave Vanian on the cover, giving way to articles about the punk movement outside the United States, besides showing other genres such as Rockabilly and Blues. Interestingly, this magazine had Jeffrey Lee Pierce (the Gun Club) as one of his writers. Although the magazine ended in 1980, “slash records” was born like one of the most important record companies in L.A. specializing in local punk rock bands.
