February 13th of 2018. It’s been one whole year since our very first date. Oddly enough, I can vividly remember how that day went, step by step. My heart plays Cupid shooting those feelings I had that day right back into me 365 days later.

Could you possibly reciprocate?

Do you remember? Does anyone remember? It seems so distant now, despite the fact that it’s been a year, like I had just imagined it all. Watching it all through my imaginative mind, cleaning up the edges and making it out so flawlessly. Unfortunately, bittersweet, it was an absolutely perfect day. With you, with a feeling nothing has came close to. The quiet features of each place you took me that day, intensifying the company of one another. The scent of stacked books and wooden book shelves we hid ourselves with. Affection.

Safe, I had felt safe with you. No doubts flooded my mind and I was love struck. I wouldn’t have picked any other over you, that day and forward. I had come to terms that I’d be hopelessly yours. My heart was convinced it was you it’d give itself to.

Surely I was naive.

And maybe I still am? Hoping you’re thinking hard on this day as I am, retracing memories in your mind, wondering if you should send the text first. Maybe waiting for my name on the phone.

Surely, again, couldn’t be the case. The thought must have left your brain just the way it should leave mine. And I know by the time I wake up tomorrow, this day will mean absolutely nothing unlike 2018.
