*the attack - or the combination of Wanda's magic and Vision's attack - stops the Sentry in his tracks* *for a moment, it is like he feels pain, and something flashes across his face*

*but the Vision has made an error in getting so close, and the Sentry turns his attention to the synthezoid* *these is a moment where he turns and sees the Vision's expression, and it does nothing to stop him*

*and the Vision, though fast, is still too slow*

*there is the sound of metal tearing, wires ripping* *the arm that was through the Sentry's chest is no longer attached to any body*

*She speaks quickly into the comm, charging as much power as she can muster.*

I-I don’t know how much everyone saw, but, oh god. Sentry, he just killed Ares. I’ll do my best to slow him down.

*across the battlefield, Jan is engaged in her own fight* *she did not see what happened to Ares, and her eyes widen when she hears Wanda’s voice over the comm*

*her own fight is not going well. There are too many opponents and not enough Avengers*

Wanda, be careful. Do not let him get too close. We’re going to try calling in reinforcements, if there are any. Don’t -

*perhaps, against a different opponent, Ares would have fared better. It is likely, given that he is a god of war.* *But the Sentry is not like any other opponent on the battlefield, and Ares does not have a shield such as Wanda's to stop the Sentry's attack*

*that, and Ares has uttered a threat against Osborn, and at the moment, Osborn's words are what Sentry follows*

*they both move at once, Ares towards the Sentry, ax hefted, ready to hit him again* *but the Sentry moves faster* *the ax swing misses him, and the Sentry strikes out, once, twice* *there is blood, but Ares draws his own fist back, hitting Sentry hard in the jaw*

*it is not enough, not even the next blow of his that connects* *they fight, both thrown back by the other, but it is already obvious who is the stronger of the two. Ares can hold his own for a time, but -*

*But he does not have a shield such as Wanda, and in one instant he is too slow* *the Sentry, something strange and off about his form now, but almost imperceptibly so, grabs hold of Ares* *and then, almost calmly, he tears him in two*

*Ares' ax clatters on to the streets of Asgard*

*the Sentry straightens and turns, his own attention focused on Ares*

*the shield, unexpectedly, stops him* *the Sentry hits it at full speed and rebounds, skidding backwards through the air to collide with one of Asgard's towers* *he plants his feet and leaps, and as he does he draws a fist back and punches Wanda's shield*

*Wanda pulls a bit of it from the shield, shaping it into a jagged hex bolt.*

*the hex bolt whips through the air and hits him in the shoulder; it barely phases him, though Wanda has most certainly drawn his attention now* *the Sentry has his orders, to attack Asgard - and this woman, who he dimly recognizes as the Scarlet Witch - is in his way*

*he takes a step and then launches himself into the air, aiming for her. He is very fast*

*curls the fingers of his right hand into a fist, and a collection of shrapnel, shields and blades rise from the dirt and form into an edged projectile*

*A large piece of said debris catches Mac right in the face, and he can feel his jaw snap. The healing factor works quick, but not that quickly. Spitting blood, he stops dead in his tracks, feeling the symbiote's influence creeping up on him.*

*The alien goo around his hands twists and shapes into a shiny black hammer around his fists. With full force, she swings directly at Magneto.*

*With a snap, his tail shatters the sword, bits of shrapnel everywhere. Retaliating, he picks up a slab of rubble, hurling it at Magneto.*

Is that any way to address your betters? *begins reaching out, finding more objects he can use*

*is so intent in this he almost misses the slab, which does not have enough metallic ore for him to manipulate it directly and so he does not have time to stop it, and dodges quickly to the side, grunting as the edge of the slab catches his shoulder*

Placing yourself above gods and homo superior seems like the sort of thing they wrote tragedies about back in Greece.

And so ingratiate myself to the gods, or something. *waves hand disinterestedly* Of course if these so-called deities can be bested by a creature such as you, one wonders how much benefit there is in godliness.

*flicks his wrist and whips a discarded sword at Venom*

*Whipping two warriors against each other with thick ropes of webbing, pleased with the audible crack of skull against skull, he looks up, to see the heroes falling from the plane.*

More toys to play with, great. *The symbiote forms into a scorpion-esque tail, and lashes a fallen Asgardian at the oncoming opponents.*

*The chaos is in full-swing as they descend, Erik himself eschewing a parachute in favor of flying*

*There is something deeply, deeply ironic about the fact that they are flying in to rescue gods. And Erik said as much to Steven before they left but he was not in a mood to entertain Erik’s macabre humor and so he was forced to keep these thoughts to himself.*

*Charles would have thought it was funny.*

*He quickly scans the battlefield and focuses on Gargan. A menace of a man if there ever was one. And there were many menaces among the homo sapiens.*

*There was somebody giving orders but Erik wasn’t paying attention. He caught the flying Asgardian in a field and repelled him back at Venom.*

*He then broke from formation and head to engage*

*He did not trust a single one of them, and kept himself apart because of that. He knew that as soon as this battle was over and Osborn’s regime broken, the old patterns would reassert themselves and this alliance would shatter. He knew this as surely as he knew which direction the sun would rise, or exactly what percentage of the transport plane’s construction was comprised of metallic alloys that he could manipulate.*

*mutters to self* Sixty-eight point five. Strange. That seems low.

-Sue Storm glances at him- “Did you say something?”

*He smiles and pats her hand* Forgive me, I was calculating an angle of trajectory for… *laughs and waves his hand* Distracting myself. You know how it is.

-Sue is unconvinced, but decides not to press the issue and just nods.- “It looks like we’re here, we should get ready for the drop”.

*Erik puts on his helmet and takes a deep breath before letting it out slowly, and lines up with the others to prepare for the jump*

*Spotting Sentry, she musters up as much magic as she can, hoping to catch him off guard. She fires in a wide beam, careful not to hit any of her teammates.*

*the thing about the Sentry is that he is not easily caught off guard. Or rather, even caught off guard, there is little that it will do to harm him*

*However, Wanda's magic doesn't more than just catch his interest. It is powerful, very much so, and it pushes him back, hair and cape caught in the flow of it*

*he turns, raises one hand, and returns an energy blast of his own, directly back towards Wanda*
