Characters like Cavendish or Smoker (random mention, but just an example) are the types who have their own will/momentum and won't settle for not impacting a story/the world they're in if the literally apocalypse is neigh and they have responsibilities like heading the fleet of the future pirate king.

Leakers were saying he gives King when in reality he gave Lady Oscar (another rose eater and white horse rider; obviously different in many ways) and by extension Cavendish! I wonder if the end of Oscar's story holds any hints around a future battle Cabbage could participate in.

A quiet moment amidst a massive battle, where the most (superficially, not entirely or self-destructively) self-obsessed character of the arc, sits in appreciation of the fantastical aspects of Dressrosa/their adventure (The anime is perfection for this scene specifically, they capture the feeling the manga gives me, and then some).

It's fitting that Cavendish being a hodgepodge of fantasy references is who gets to acknowledge the Tontatta to like so, and that this scene where he's admiring the broader picture, is wherein he accepts his place on the seas to an extent, relative to Luffy and Law.

Not that he won't show out/make a big splash when it's his time/in support of Luffy, but as a cap to his character in the arc and a stepping stone to joining the fleet, it's essentially his rationale and the change that allowed for it.

He's accepted (despite his later protest) that he won't be "number one," but what better way to impact the world and be a big name, than being next to them; even better when that "number one," is a friend/someone you admire and endorse the vision of, for the wider world.

As an aside, moments like this with Road and the SH's in the castle, with quiet conversation/a unique atmosphere, make that one of best scenes in Elbaf/my favorite chapter of it so far (for more reasons, but that is a large part).
