shots from my shopping day in los angeles. i ended up getting a new art kanken & tons of stationary for the new school year! šāļøš(click for higher quality)
listening to: checkmate by conan gray (my spotify)
i love people who are incredibly book smart but otherwise stupid as shit. i have a friend who got a 4.0 in college but had to ask me if there were calories in soap
ok i apparently wasnāt clear enough with how stupid this question was. they didnāt mean if you ate it. they asked if you rubbed soap on your body, like in the shower, if there was nutritional value to that. weāre talking peak dumbass here not natural curiosity
good types of alone time:
ādecadenceā
rewatch pride & prejudice (2005 or 1995, your pick)
take a long shower & shave legs
stare at face in mirror for a long time, reflect on changes that have occured in past year
sara bareilles cd on repeat
ādeep mysteryā
lying on the floor listening to music you liked fifteen years ago
watch dust motes travel across the room in the late afternoon haze
what would be different about my life if i had been a cheerleader in high school?
what was the title of that book you read in the fourth grade?Ā you only remember the main characterās name and nothing about the plot.Ā you spend the next three hours googling and then you drop $60 for a first edition on ebay
cup of tea, then another
are you there god?
āefficiencyā
take out five boxes of paperwork from the closet and spend the next three hours making small piles around your body on the floor
write first chapter of novel
cover wall in post it notes
lists lists lists
highlight everything
nowās a good time to start that bullet journal
must empty email inbox
plan out next five years of life down to the month, week, day
āshake it upā
blast nsync while scrubbing out microwave
rearrange living room four different ways
todayās a good day to repaint your bedroom
letās research and plan a trip to san francisco
develop new fashion style, must throw away all items of clothes that donāt work with it
ārain dayā
light candle, open windows, put on sweater

i wrote half an essay in 20mins today when itās not even due for another 4 weeks, reblog this to have a productivity lightning bolt strike you like it did me today
Sorry for the inactivity.
TW: depression, anxiety, self-harm & suicidal thoughts mentioned.Ā
I thought that doing the #100daysofproductivity challenge would truly challenge me to be more productive and help me study along the semester. Sadly, depression doesnāt care about an internet challenge. After the third day of the challenge, I missed a day, felt guilty, and I started slipping back into depression. It is something that I have fought for years, and still struggle with daily. Along with other factors, such as questioning my sexuality, struggling with a class that I had to withdraw from, and wrestling with intrusive thoughts, the challenge took a place on the back burner of my mind, far away from the illusion of productivity. Things got low this semester. I relapsed. I wanted to end it all. I didnāt, though, and Iām still fighting and managing. Iām in therapy, and I started anti-depressants a couple weeks ago and Iām doing okay on them, and I am slowly learning to love myself, whatever that is for me. I came out as bisexual to some of my friends and family and they accept and support me and it makes me so happy to have their love. Iām going to try and be more active on here as the semester is ending, and the studying is picking up, but bear with me as I recover from this episode. Depression sucks, and Iām trying to kick its ass, yāall.Ā
do you ever look back at your aesthetic development and feel contented with the change it underwent and your current sense of beauty acquiring a certain depth and color, a slightly greater sensibility in perceiving the world around you and learning to appreciate things for their resonance with your personality, not because of their superficial prettiness but because of striking a chord right within your mind, finding pleasure in phenomena you would not even have noticed in the past, ceasing the chase after outwardly pure beauty and abandoning the boring perfection, not minding to be a little tainted with ugliness and mischief, cherishing the decision and the way of falling in love with things by your own intellect, thus creating the beautiful within yourself instead of passively accepting what is pre-made to be externally beautiful, being the one who adds the true meaning and appeal to what is visible and composing the symphony out of coinciding sounds, places, words and emotions.

types of people ā³ weather
tag yourself;
cloudy: soft hands, hard to read, black combat boots, dreams about starting over, hides anxiety, deep conversations, tangled earbuds, bottling emotions
sunny: optimistic, doc martens, smiling at strangers, doodles of sunflowers, talkative, daydreams a lot, candid photos, making plans to go somewhere fun
rainy: sad smiles, into psychology, morning dew, acoustic playlists, telling yourself everything will be okay, writing in a journal, watching cars pass by, studio ghibli, the smell of clean laundry
snowy: being wrapped up in blankets, shy at first, patient, hot drinks, homemade crafts, bare feet, tired eyes, getting lost in a good book, long, soft hair
windy: running fingers through your hair, likes being around people, iced coffee, petting a stray cat, shaky breaths, gets mad easily but calms down quickly, muted colors, street smart

Who doesnāt love book cafe?
Harvard has a pigment library that stores old pigment sources, like the ground shells of now-extinct insects, poisonous metals, and wrappings from Egyptian mummies, to preserve the origins of the worldās rarest colors.
A few centuries ago, finding a specific color might have meant trekking across the globe to a mineral deposit in the middle of Afghanistan. āEvery pigment has its own story,ā Narayan Khandekar, the caretaker of the pigment collection, told Fastcodesign. He also shared the stories of some of the most interesting pigments in the collection.
Mummy Brown
āPeople would harvest mummies from Egypt and then extract the brown resin material that was on the wrappings around the bodies and turn that into a pigment. Itās a very bizarre kind of pigment, Iāve got to say, but it was very popular in the 18th and 19th centuries.ā
Cadmium Yellow
āCadmium yellow was introduced in the mid 19th century. Itās a bright yellow that many impressionists used. Cadmium is a heavy metal, very toxic. In the early 20th century, cadmium red was introduced. You find these pigments used in industrial processes. Up until the 1970s, Lego bricks had cadmium pigment in them.ā
Annatto āThe lipstick plantāa small tree, Bixa orellana, native to Central and South Americaāproduces annatto, a natural orange dye. Seeds from the plant are contained in a pod surrounded with a bright red pulp. Currently, annatto is used to color butter, cheese, and cosmetics.ā
Lapis Lazuli āPeople would mine it in Afghanistan, ship it across Europe, and it was more expensive than gold so it would have its own budget line on a commission.ā
Dragonās Blood āIt has a great name, but itās not from dragons. [The bright red pigment] is from the rattan palm.ā
Cochineal āThis red dye comes from squashed beetles, and itās used in cosmetics and food.ā
Emerald Green āThis is made from copper acetoarsenite. We had a Van Gogh with a bright green background that was identified as emerald green. Pigments used for artistsā purposes can find their way into use in other areas as well. Emerald green was used as an insecticide, and you often see it on older wood that would be put into the ground, like railroad ties.ā
Source
This is pure alchemy. I love it!Ā
If you know how much I love colors you know how much Iām freaking out right now. I WANT TO BE THERE
