Also I have a telescope! Very small one but I should totally break it out sometime! Its been in hiding for years lol. 

You know…? 

Mizar is the middle star in the "handle" of the famous Big Dipper constellation!

It was the first double star (two stars that can appear as one due to their closeness) ever recorded! The other star is Alcor.

It's about 83 light years away, so it wee see it as it was when your grandparents were born! (very rough estimate, I don't know your grandparents' age.)

No clouds tonight, everything is super bright and visible

The moon is again behind a tree but this time it is due south 

Arcturus my fav is again very easy to spot! Hurray!

I see something else that looks like the ISS

And my other favorite Iota² Cygni!

Also found Sheliak and Sulafat!

Time to identify more stars to name!

Quite convenient that Alkaid is so close to Arcturus, that'll be helpful when they make major moves

But Ive got the Dipper memorized (ish) so let's check that tomorrow!

My feet are cold I'm going inside after naming eve dry star I can think of from memory

Also sometime this summer I wanna drive out to the middle of nowhere and just watch the sky you know?

My dad is taking me to the Rockies that could be cool

Also: when I say “x is NW of y” im kinda saying if x is there, based on my current position, x is more NW than y. Not like actually closer to polaris or whatever

Triangle is NE of Vega tho I'd live to see how that changes mmm

Triangle is Fawaris, Deneb, and Sadr with sadr bring the right angle and fawaris being at the end of the longer arm stemming from the right angle. Iota² Cygni is between Deneb and Fawaris kinda makes it look rhombus like

I might have forgot what a rhombus looks like dont bet on that

Now, a new star… im focusing on beginning with stars that are easy to find on their own and branching out

Vega has two stars SE of it, both close to together and forming a scalene triangle. They're too dim for a picture, so here check below for the star map version

Sheliak is the more Western one (I mean from the Midwest in June

Sorry that these are so long I truly didn't intend for them to be with my first one, but this just feels like more of a journal. Yannow?

I was curious about that barely visible, barely identifiable star I saw near my lovely right triangle tonight.

It's estimated at 121 light years away (that's why it's so hard to see!)

Cool thing: it'll be about 92 light years in 783k years! Then it should be (a wee bit) brighter

oh lord I cannot type at night I just say weird stuff I'm sorry folks

It is 577 million years old (Pretty young!) (Younger than Earth) (When it formed, life and evolution were booming in our oceans!) and is 1.8 times the mass of the Sun!

This made Eta very identifiable wahoo

Vega also very visible

Its crazy how we can just see these things, they're like dozens of light years away.

Saw a nice equilateral triangle above me and to the SW of Vega but couldn't identify

Im standing on like the thick top of my porch like idk how to explain it but

My porch has sides right and theyre like chest tall and im standing on top and its just wider than my foot 

Like I might fall

I just sneezed im so gonna fll

Its right above my house if you stand at the bottom of the driveway

Eta is a star in the constellation Bootes.

It is a binary star (part of a system of two gravitationally bound stars) and can be seen diagonal NorthWest (in June) to Arcturus (3.24 LY apart), one of the brightest stars in our sky.

It's about 37 light-years away and is 1.7 times the mass of the Sun, estimated at 2.7 billion years old. (Much younger than our Sun.)

Looked out back door. Patchy clouds but Vega is visible.
