A Road To Success: Feelings and Thoughts Unfold

I feel great while working on the lantern as a class. It was funny as I think about it now 'cause before we use to be in our own worlds with our own group of friends, but during this time it felt like finally as a class we are united. The tasks are equally distributed and my classmates, for the first time ever, I think, start doing things on their own accord without people reminding them of what they should do to help. Hence, making the lantern was one of the special memories that I'll surely remember by the time we graduate.

I think, with the outcome on our class' lantern, we're able to make a very beautiful "jellyfish". Kidding! But seriously, I think our lantern's one of the best as we made it waterproof—sort of. On the bright side, really I am happy with our lantern as we include in here the different wishes that each of us in class wish for the world. Thus, made it more meaningful and precious to each and everyone of us. I hope other people will feel the same as we do, too.

Well, the fact that I'm wishing that our cell group lantern design proposal is to be chosen, I'm contented to the new design that OUR CLASS came up with. I was really expecting for it to be very beautiful, yet I want it to evince what we wish for the world is. Also, I'm expecting that while making the lantern, our class, Curie S.Y. 2017-2018, will become more united. Hmm... can't wait to start making it with them!

I only want one thing this Christmas... and that is for the world to remember always the real meaning of it—Christmas. Why are we celebrating it? Again, it is about Christ who is a God, at the same time who become human, just to save us sinners from our sin. Why I wish for this? Because I believe that with this in mind, we will be able to feel the real happiness Christmas can bring to our hearts as we start our day by attending the mass with our loved ones and then spending the rest of it with them in company. Just the thought of these, wherein there are no fake smiles, fake words, etc. already makes my heart flutter.

Christmas just like the name Christian is nothing without "Christ". Thus, Christmas is never about the extravagant gifts and scrumptious food, but Jesus Christ our Savior. Him who's the symbol of God's love for us hence, Christmas is the time for giving love without expecting something in return as we do it in our own will.

If I were to create a new agency that would promote and preserve our arts and even our culture, it shall be known as "Efeliuar". It came from the French word fleur (F - ef, L - el, E - i, U - u, R - ar) which means flower. Yes, it's because I thought that arts and culture can be compared to a gentle flower who needs care, protection and love, so that it will bloom and be able to show its real beauty and meekness to everyone. As aforementioned, my agency will protect and take good care of different artworks and literatures, and for our project, we will hold seminars about the importance of arts and culture in our life, a charity event wherein we'll encourage everyone (both professionals and non-professionals of all ages) to make their own artwork or literature and sell it, also at the same time have a mini-concert where the proceeds in these events shall be given to our chosen charities, and if possible, we'll ask to have a National Arts Day and National Culture Day which, again, aims to remind everyone of arts and culture's importance.

Government agencies such as the NCCA, CCP, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, National Museum, National Library, National Archives of the Philippines, and Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino are essential in protecting and cultivating Philippines' art and culture because these agencies have made it possible for us to have different artifacts, artworks, literatures, etc. both from the past and up to present that's why I don't see a need to abolish them. Furthermore, although, I don't think they're given enough funds to proceed in accomplishing their mission and vision, these agencies together with its members are trying their best to encourage everyone to love and patronize our country's arts and culture, and one of its examples are the different events that they held.

I don't think that the usage of English in literature lessens the "Filipino-ness" of the literary work and that it only depends on the person on how s/he will interpret the work. As long as it's about Filipinos history and culture, may it be in other language or created by a non-Filipino, for me I will considered it a part of myself as a Filipino by blood and by heart.

Yes, I absolutely agree with Leo Benesa's claim about Amorsolo's work that they are the most expressive of the ethos of the race and predominantly agricultural countryside because, as I look through his works, it shows the different activities of Filipinos life and culture despite the fact that we've been colonized by different countries. One good example of this is the planting and harvesting of rice as it depicts the agricultural, the rural countryside as contrasted to the urban community. Also, the Filipina dalaga which presented the ever-smiling picture of innocence and sweetness symbolic of the unspoiled life in the rural areas, and the daughter of the chief of the sultanate, Muslim bai, of pre-hispanic times.

Among the artworks, my favorite would be Makulay na Sinderella Isang Minuto bago maghatinggabi / Cinderella Colored at 11:59 p.m. by Jana Benitez probably because it contradicts the Cinderella that I've known from fairy tails. It's like the artwork shows emotions such as sorrow, loneliness, innocence, and superiority at the same time. Also, I liked the colors used, although it's mostly dark colors, the way they contrast with each other is such a beauty. Lastly, the strokes that been made, I like how it had made the hair look so real, and the background too, those small bubbles that seems like they're fading away.
