Why Winona Ryder Doesn’t Regret Opening Up About Depression
Twenty years ago, mental health was a taboo topic. After all, opening up about mental illness is difficult enough for anyone, let alone an A-list actress launching a Hollywood career. Today, Ryder says she’s glad that she was so up front about depression and anxiety.

Young girls really are pressured now more than ever to be seen as beautiful and sexy and perfect like IG models and whatever the fuck…..like that’s why you see “me at 14 vs 14 year old girls today” posts……….we didn’t have this constant stream of content like they do…..content telling us to be perfect and to have perfect clothes and sharp eyeliner wings that look photoshopped and shit like that….I mean it’s always been there but not like this…and while I think girls should be able to dress however they want and do whatever they want…..you have to take into consideration the fact that this all stems from a toxic culture where women have to be perfect and beautiful…now at younger and younger ages….and it’s really gross…and the media continues to sexualize and like…make young girls seem older and more appealing than they actually are idk the whole thing makes me so uncomfortable and it’s only going to get worse :/

✨ “Any talent you possess but do not use becomes a burden.” — I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was 12. According to my mum, I was born with the blessing and the burden of feeling too deeply and too much. I think that’s why I began channelling everything in my head into stories, poems and essays. And that’s how I fell in love with words. . At 21, I landed my first ~real~ (i.e: paid) writing job. It was surreal and exciting and everything I’d ever wanted and so, so, so boring. After spending 40+ hours a week writing for other people, the very last thing I wanted to do when I got home was write for myself, So I didn’t. I didn’t write a single word outside of work for over 2 years. And now, at 24, I want to unburden myself from not using my talent and not enjoying my passion. . This is why 2018 is my year of creativity. And, perhaps more importantly, my year of letting go of what my creativity might mean to others. I think everyone - whether you’re a creator or not - understands to some extent just how scary it is to put pieces of yourself out into the world. But I think it’s infinitely scarier to never allow yourself to say “who cares” and do it anyway. So, this year I’m going to try and write a poem a week. I’ve created a writing account - @wrtrinthedrk - where maybe I’ll post some of my work. Maybe I’ll chicken out. I’m hoping it will be the former. I have a lot to say and god knows I’ve felt a lot over the last few years. Here’s to holding creativity’s hand rather than running away from it 💫
this is too real though
i love girls. theyre so sweet and kind they always have a painkiller or a chewing gum when u need one, they always give u a bite of whatever theyre eating, they hug u when ur cold, they hold ur hand so u dont get lost in the crowd. angels
On the dates that you've been on, do you usually split the bill or does one person pay?
Usually the guy insists on paying even after I offer to split the bill. But if we go for a drink after or something I’ll usually pay for a few to even it out. Not many guys seem to be a fan of that tbh.
