17 years without her. I lost my mom to alcohol poisoning that led to hospitalization in a healthcare system that failed her, doctors killing her during operation, a fatal mistake that my family has never seen compensation for. I do it for her, even tho she left me when I was 5 and was in and out of my life before she died. I miss watching storms with her in northern arizona, i miss raising piglets with her at her trailer where she lived without power for months, i miss watching old cowboy movies late at night cuddled with the dogs, even if she was drinking a steel reserve every night, i miss every minute of it. grief and empathy are strange. For how little she was in my life, she made me who I am.
